BCBS of Louisiana??? Anyone?

That was the heads up program that is different than BCBS of louisiana . I don't know why they don't cover it would be a lot cheaper in the long run. I was going to get it but it would drain all my savings so I'm back on the band wagon 1 week down. Very happy for all the people that can my sister-n-law did and she looks great. Carla

I go for my first appointment thurs. I know I may leave with the powders for the liquid diet. How long between ur initial appointment did u have to wait for the actual surg? I heard it could take up to a year. 

Hi Javier, I have BCBS of LA and they did not cover any bariatric surgeries at the time I had my surgery. I was aware that they were eventually  going to be doing a study  but I only wanted Dr Treen to do my surgery and with the study, had I been chosen, that wouldn't have been an option. I knew the study would be for a few years and didn't want to wait to see if they would eventually pay for the surgery or not because I need 2 knee replacements and the weight loss would be a great benefit for that so I went as self pay. With BCBS it really depends on the company she works for as the companies choose certain options. I know someone who has BCBS of LA and it was covered, she works for a federal agency, I work for a state agency. Wishing you and your sister the best.

Hey htanks for your feedback. I am sorry that your surgery was not covered but I am glad you did what needed to be done to get what you needed. I kinda figured that it would also depend on her employer since that was kinda the case with me. my cigna covered the surgery because my job has a clause with cigna when it comes to bariatric surgery. but i also met a couple of people who cigna did not cover. Its kinda frustarating that its all left to chance, but we are fighters and we gotta do what we gotta do.
