Incisional Pain...
VSG on 09/04/12
So I am 6 days out from Surgery and I am still having INTENSE incisional pain. The pain is only in one incision, the one where he took the stomach out of. I am trying to stop taking the pain killers but I still feel like I need them. I know everyone is different of course, but I guess I expected that I wouldn't have this much pain this many days out as most of you report feeling fine by now. I see my surgeon tomorrow so obviously I will talk to him about it then, but I just really want to get off these painkillers and start doing more normal things around the house. I actually miss doing housework!! Anyway, just kind of venting!
My incision where my tummy was pulled through hurt the most by far and it hurt until just a few days ago (I'm 12 days out today). Is the pain in that one incision still intense or just mighty danged uncomfortable? I was off of my pain meds by day 4 and only took them on day 4 because I was scared to come off of them. What I found was that the pain meds weren't doing quite the job I thought they were on the pain at my incisions, so it wasn't really doing me any real good to keep taking them. Talk to your doctor and see what he has to say. Maybe he has something topical that could offer you some relief.
Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you! I would call it very uncomfortable with an occassional burst of sharp pain that is usually related to movement. Anytime I move in that area (I mean even slightly) I get a sharp pain. I went without the pain killers overnight last night and I was completely unable to sleep. I still haven't taken one yet this morning. I am probably taking one later because I'm getting an IUD in (sorry if TMI) and they said I need to take 4 motrin before I come in. Well I can't take those anymore so I'm just going to take a pain pill instead. Anyway thanks so much for your input. Hope you are feeling great!!
