Please know that we are all praying for you - I certainly can sympathize with your anxiety over waiting.  You will feel so much better when you know exactly what the plan of treatment is - the not knowing is the worst.  Keep us posted.

Hi Yolie622,

From someone with heart issues I can tell you that getting the sleeve has prolly added YEARS to my life and is the best thing that I could ever have done. At the time of my initial consult I weighed in at 450.5 pounds with several co-morbidities including Congestive Heart Failure. I was diagnosed over two years ago now and unfortunately we don't know if it was as a result of the sleep apnea or something that has been an issue since childhood but my heart is functioning way below normal levels.

This past March I finally made a decision to change my life for the better and started changing my lifestyle to prepare for my surgery that came in July and I had PCPs blessing (I have been treating my problems thru him since the cardiologist released me to his care). I know that all heart issues can't be solved with losing weight but I can certainly tell you that it will definitely give you much more of a fighting chance to recovery and a healthier life.

Best of luck and I will be sending up prayers for you!

My heart is only pumping 45% and I have Cardiomyopathy from the chemotherapy that I had 10 years ago.  When I spoke to my cardiologist about the sleeve, he was all for it.  Six months later, I am 107 pounds down with 60 more to go until goal.  My cardiologist simple said that the weight would kill me before the heart would.  Meaning the weight was causing my heart more stress than anything else!! I have a ton of energy now, still on my heart meds, but I feel like a new person.  I do water aerobics and lift weights 3 days a week.  I also swim a lot!!! Talk with your doctor get your hole repaired and go for it!!! Like another person said be glad you found it!!! The people who usually die from heart problems are those who don't know that they have them!!!! Best Wishes!!! HW 317, SW 300, CW 208
