Discuss this with your surgeon at your appointment. I went through almost a year of always just learning about RNY. Even during the classes required by my insurance they concentrated on it. I researched and read as much as I could preparing for it. Then I went for my first meeting with the surgeon and she explained the different surgeries. We also covered my weight history (when I first had weight problems, eating habits, lifestyle, current health issues). After all of it and my huge list of questions she said she really felt that VSG would be the best for me. I was floored at first because I really was mentally prepared to do RNY. However when I went home researched VSG and went to OH I discovered that for me it does seem the best choice. Talk to your surgeon, that's the reason for that first real visit. Good Luck with whatever you decide. I am anxiously waiting one last step in my approval from the cardiologist and then.......New life here I come (scared as he**,but more afraid of staying where I am).

I had the sleeve surgery three weeks ago and am very happy with the results.  Much easier than before to loose weight- no appetite, small stomach capacity and no food issues.  Was able to eat solid food in first week.  Very quick recovery and very little pain after surgery.

For all the reasons above I'm choosing the sleeve as well.  We are the same height and seem to have the same goals.

Don't know about the skin thing...I guess it will be what it will be.  I prefer it over rolls of fat :)

Good luck with whatever you decide :)
