Scared
It's not stupid at all.
How long you're on liquids depends on which doctor you're using... they each have their own specific plan that they want you to follow, but generally you stay on full liquids for 2-3 weeks and then progress to soft foods, then by a month out or so you add in small amounts of solids.
Which doctor ARE you using? As long as you have done your research and know what you're getting into, you're fine. It's normal for others to think those of us who choose to travel for this surgery are nuts lol... but there are enough of us out there who have done it to prove that it really can be safe, as long as you have planned appropriately.

Not sure about the hospital you are referring to, but I went to Dr. Aceves in Mexicalli, and my husband was allowed to be with me every minute of the trip except for during the actual surgery. My hospital room had a couch where he was allowed to sleep, and he said it was pretty comfy. He was allowed to shower in my private bathroom and could come and go from the hospital as he pleased.
Just a side note: my husband also has a sleeve, and we made the mistake of telling Dr. Aceves that they day before surgery. After, Dr. A caught my husband drinking a diet coke and got onto him as if my husband was one of his own patients! It was hilarious :) He also allowed my husband to get an x-ray of his sleeve while they were doing my x-ray so that he could see what his looked like. How many doctors do you know that would let someone do an x-ray for free, especially when they aren't even his own patient?
Not trying to persuade you to use Dr. Aceves at all... he's one of a handful of great doctors in Mexico. But I have to admit that I was very impressed with my experience.

I was on liquids for 2 weeks and I am a week shy of 2 months and still don't really have a desire to eat and when I do get hungry I only want a few bites depending on what I am eating and I am done and then I don't want anything else. For me no I don't think I will have any problems with the holidays but everyone is different just remember your reasons for having the surgery to begin with. Something else that helps me is telling myself that I no longer want or like the things I know I should not have and for me that helps so I will keep on faking it till I make it.
I really hope this helps I know it can be frustrating and a little scary with you think in terms of the rest of your life being totally different. If you need someone to talk to and I can help in any way I will just add me and msg me whenever.
