Off topic: is it illegal for your boss to make copies of your network password and distribute it ?
I requested our tech guru to reset it it, and the boss COMPLETELY flipped out calling me unprofessional for emailing her, screaming at me, and overal his typical abusive behavior. For the first time in my life, I walked out on a meeting saying it was over until he was ready to have a civil conversation. He chased me down the hall screaming, and fetched the union president. Yea, that totally backfired on him as he was expecting for her to see how unprofessional I was and now there is a witness to his normally closeted abuse and a few people in the district are now actively working to use this as an opportunity to get him fired. Really sucks being caught in the middle of this **** storm. All I wanted was a new password and for him to not pass it out again.
Time to keep the emotional eating in check- holy crap did the calories go nuts yesterday, and that is inexcusable.
Any input on the legalities would be much appreicated.

Sounds like the kind of crap that would happen at my school. Sorry you're dealing with this!
I was hoping you would chime in given your issues at your school. I know ethically it is an issue, but do you know if legally it is? Can he do that?

I would think your boss is in the wrong here, your union president will fix all of this so will the IT guys.
I don't use my work computer for any site that needs a password that I use from home. I will read this site from work but not logged in. I use my phone for other sites that require my personal passwords, I am sure from where I work that they can easily access what I do on my phone as well

I only have hotmail from home so I can't remember the steps from here, this is what an IT guy told me.
Might want to clear the cookies on your work computer if you want all your sites that you visited and with your passwords to be gone.
I have a smartphone, android, and basically I love being able to check my sites from it but as I said I know work probably monitors stuff anyways. They have the intelligence to monitor just about anything

However, it's not cool that he gave that out.
Keep in mind though that anything you do on a work computer is completely and totally open to your job. They can access whatever they want. Typically, they won't because it's not worth their time - unless they suspect you of something.
(this is what my teacher husband who also worked in IT said, basically) - talk to your union rep and/or the district administrators.

Now, that being done ... how did this person get your password in the first place to pass it out? There is no reason for that person to have your password, period. Granted, with workplace emails and things, there's little expectation of privacy from your EMPLOYER; however, those staff members were given unfettered access to those things AND could take the opportunity to do something quite nasty and make it look like you did it. This is a serious risk for you, and it should not be taken lightly. I'm not sure what your state's laws are on this sort of thing (I'd have to research it), so I can't really say anything beyond the "holy **** that is completely unethical and dangerous" aspect.
I would get a new password, and refuse to give it to your boss. As far as I'm concerned, he does not need it. Have you gone to HR? Have you gone to the administration? I would be raising absolute hell.
He is definitely in the wrong. Don't let it stress you out (easier said then done). Try and think of this as a positive - you have had a painful situation that has finally come to a head and now some action will finally occur against him. A little pain now will save you from lots of pain in the future!
