I had one slice of pizza at around 5 weeks out.  My surgeon cleared me for anything and everything I wanted to try to eat.  The first time I tried it at 4 weeks, I only ate the cheese topping.  The second time, I had a whole slice (chewed well and ate slowly) and I tolerated it very well.  I was quite satisifed (LOVE pizza) and didn't feel deprived.  It's not something I plan to eat on a regular basis, but an occasional slice is not going to kill me and will make me very happy.  When I'm very happy, I stay on plan and exercise.

 Call me the bad guy...

I eat these things often....pizza, pasta, potatoes, candy, cake, cookies.  But, ALWAYS in moderation and, that's the GREAT thing now...I can have one slice of pizza and be satisfied.  Or ONE cookie, ONE roll with dinner, ONE serving of rice or pasta.  And, I'm full, I'm satisfied and I enjoy it all!

For me, I didn't go into this saying I will never be NORMAL again....in that, I wanted to be able to eat everything I did prior to surgery but in moderation.  You see, THAT was my problem.  One was never enough for me.  Now, it is!  And, it's worked....for me.  :)

I'm 6 months out and at a normal BMI.  Just putting that out there before my answer.  I have had pizza, once or twice,  both times 1 tiny slice and then whatever protein I was having with it.  I never ate the crust before so I've continued in that vein.  I don't like think crust pizza so make sure we order a thin crust type.  DOES NOT make it healthy but at least lessons the fullness.  I also have only eaten it on my long run days (9-10 miles) when I struggle to eat enough calories for the day.
