clothes, clothes, clothes!!

So, I have to tell you I am thrilled that I have dropped from a 20/22 to a 16. I'm totally over the moon about this! I just don't know what to do about my clothes!
I don't own a thing in a size 16 because I haven't been less than an 18 since middle school. Therefore, I have nothing to wear! I bought one size 16 pair of jeans last week, and those are my go to pants right now. Everything else is starting to feel WAY to big. I am not sure what to do. I don't want to spend a ton of money on clothes right now since I won't be wearing them for very long. Most of my shirts are okay, but my bras and pants are ridiculous, especially my sports bras which I REALLY need for my workouts. I bought two new sports bras from kohls but they were too tight, so I'm just going to hang on to them for awhile.
In short, what do I do about my clothing situation without spending a fortune?? Also I really need to get rid of the things that no longer fit, but for whatever reason I'm scared to let go of them. I don't feel like I'm going to gain my weight back but there is some weird thing that is making me feel weird about letting them go. Did anyone else have that feeling?

Hearing about your success is so inspiring! As for finding affordable new clothes, do you have any good consignment shops near you? We have an Uptown Cheepskate in our town and it is freaking awesome! All name brand consignment. I have also found some amazing deals at the Goodwill that is in the wealthier part of town too.
As for getting rid of stuff, you can donate, but also most towns now have a "yard sale page" on Facebook where you could list them, or just have a yards sale if you have enough stuff :). You can also list or Craigslist. Another awesome site is Freecycle, where you can hand pick who you donate to, there are a lot of needy families that post on there looking for stuff.
I wouldn't be too concerned about gaining weight back, but you can always wait to get rid of stuff until you are more comfortable, there is no big rush :)

In the losing stage I stuck with the bare minimum for $$$ reasons. I didn't want to spend much on something I would shrink out of in a month.
Goodwill is seriously my favorite store now. About 80% of my current "full wardrobe" came from the Goodwill. I recently bought about 10 pr. of pants, 6 shirts, 7 sweaters, 4 lightweight jackets, 2 coats, 3 cardigans & 2 pr. of shoes for less than $110!! Good stuff, too, in great condition.
Dig through clearance stuff at stores, too. Off season for future use is a good idea (which doesn't help you right now, I know, but may be helpful for you later). Back in the summer I bought a ton of sweaters from Kohls and Goodies for no more than $5 each - some were less than that!
Have fun shopping, and keep up the great losing! Nice job!

Girlfriend! You are posting to the right group.
GET RID OF EVERYTHING THAT'S TOO BIG FOR YOU, NOW!
You are NOT going to be that big again, and if you *were* to gain a little weight, you don't want any comfortable clothes waiting for you in a bigger size. I cannot *stand* wearing pants that are too big. I don't know why - should make me feel skinny - instead I want to eat. SO, I don't care how little time I was in size "X", I get rid of them when they are too big.
I donate all my clothes - I don't have time to eBay or yard sale and I write it all off on my taxes.
I shop almost exclusively at Goodwill and the Salvation Army. My friends made fun of me until one of them went and found two dresses from Apostrophe. One with tags. Consignment is too expensive for me right now! I actually buy white shirts new, plus all underwear, shapewear, socks, etc. but jeans, shirts, slacks I buy at the Goodwill. I'm getting ready to go out to breakfast now wearing a yellow sweater and black pants, both from Goodwill. Less than $6.
Besides appealing to the bargain hunter in me, I like trying out looks I would never pay retail for. It's like a big game of dress-up. Enjoy!!

I am in the same boat with you! I am in size 16s now too! I've been shopping like crazy. I just do WalMart or Meijer for most of my clothes. I have been slow losing for the past 2 months, so I have been able to wear the same size for a while. SUCKS! I have a terrible time shopping at Goodwill. Maybe I just don't like hunting for the right size. Maybe our Goodwill isn't stocked very well, I don't know. Sounds like everyone has some great suggestions.
oh man- that's awesome! 16- woo hoo!
Anyway, ditch those clothes ASAP cause you will never need them again- eva! If they are still in nice shape take them to a consignment shop or donate them. Then just pick up 2-3 more pants and a few tops that you can pair with some scarfs to make your outfits look different enough, cause you ar gonna "de-grow" out of those soon enough too!
Good for you!

Yep.. I am also addicted to used clothing stores. Sometimes you have to dig through alot of crap... But all of my work pants/shirts/jeans I buy used. I never pay over $6.00 or $7.00 per item. I donate all of my clothes and get the tax form for when I file my taxes at the end of the year. There is also a chain called savers that gives you 20 percent off when you donate. All of their profits go to big brother and sisters. Take a saturday and hit every salvation army, savers, etc and see what bargins you can find. Not getting rid of your big clothes is the fat girl way of thinking. I know it is hard to wrap your mind around...but you will NEVER be that big again. Even if you slip in a couple of years you will be in your size 10's and not 24's. I have kept one shirt and one pair of my pants at my biggest size. When I am having a poor me day...I put them on and feel much better. I was also a 24 and now am a 16. Wearing clothes that fit keeps me motivated! Best of luck!!
Goodwill! I have a wardrobe of temporary clothes right now, full of Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Jones New York, etc....I get compliments on my clothes every day. I am spending a very small amount of money, having fun treasure hunting at Goodwill, and looking good! I don't think I will stop after I get to goal......
I am terribly sad about the loss of my current FABULOUS wardrobe. I thought about selling it on craigs list, ebay, or at one of the resale shops in town and still had this super sad feeling about "losing" such great stuff. I finally thought of an idea for my soon to be unwearable wardrobe that doesn't make me all sad, it actually makes me excited to do. I plan to donate to the domestic violence shelter. Hopefully someone will be able to find a great job and get themselves in a better position in life because I sent some awesome supe plus size clothing to them. Even if they just feel better about themselves for a day because they have a well fitting classy outfit then the joy of being well dressed was doubly served....man I love my fat clothes and how pretty they made me feel even when I knew I was super morbidly obese.
