Last year when I had my hysterectomy they used surgical glue.  The glue in my belly button was not wanting to come out.  I had gone to the doctor twice and she said it was gone.  I was told to pour hydrogen peroxide in my belly button a couple times a day and did.  It was a few days or weeks even later after weeks of pain that I FINALLY got the last piece of glue out.  It had been keeping puss below the glue and once it came out and I used the peroxide a few more times, I felt fantastic and it healed right up.

Worth a shot.  I actually ended up using a tweezer to get the last piece out.  Good luck to you..

You can always just put peroxide on a q-tip and daub your belly button..  my doc said it was ok...

Yea icky smell is not uncommon in that area, I have seen pts as a RN who get it, it is a combination of dead skin and other matter kinda sticking there. Hang in there keep cleaning, you seem to be doing things right.

UPDATE: Well last night I noticed that half of the icky smelling tape at my belly button had fallen off....so I gently helped the other side off....it wasn't covering the scar so I see no problem with my assistance....but one thing is for sure.....that's definitely what was causing that HORRIBLE smell....cause now that its gone, the smell is gone.....WOO THANK GOD
