Weird Pains 5 weeks Post Op

Hi,
I have a bad gallbladder. They opted to do VSG prior to GB removal. Reason for this was that my GB was not contracting, there were no stones at all. They figured if I lost some weight maybe the GB would start working again as it should. But I digress, Gallbladder disease gives chest pain, back pain in between the shoulder pain and all over back pain. When I read your post, this was the first thing I thought of was GB disease. I know this sounds petty but I did a science fair project for nursing school and it (Many reference source materials) described gallbladder pain as the great masquerader. My father is a general surgeon and he was also a great source of info.
I would ask for a GB Ultrasound from your GP, if you still have pain see about a HIDA scan. The U/S showed nothing (no stones) the HIDA scan showed that my GB was not contracting and therefore causing severe pains through my body as a result. This is a common disorder for those of us losing weight. Mostly a stone issue, but sometimes it can just malfunction. No matter if mine starts or not, I am going to see if I can get it removed... I just need to finish recovering from this VSG first.
Use a heating pad, see if the pain eleviates when you go on pure liquids (low fat is key with GB) I can no longer eat pork or red meat with my GB issues, it is a hit or miss dietary nightmare. Push on your right side just below your rib cage and see if you get any sharp pains in that area.
Best of luck and I hope you feel better soon. By the way, it could also be postural where we carried so much weight for so long... but in my case it is a double whammy, I know my GB is toast LOL
