Have you done a gallbladder cleanse?
That awful pain that I had a week ago and attributed to overeating was apparently my first big gallbladder attack. Sucks! Took me three days to figure it out. Had another one last night...granted not nearly as painful...but close.
So I would prefer to avoid having my gallbladder taken out. My mom has been doing gallbladder cleanses for decades now and has avoided surgical removal of her gallbladder. I want to give this a shot. I was wondering if any of my VSG partners have tried one and/or if you have one you would recommend.
What do you think?
Gallbladder pain sucks. Trust me, I've been there and landed myself in the hospital for 9 days with it. That being said, I absolutely would NOT try a gallbladder cleanse without my surgeon, PCP and NUT being on board with it. Here is a link about gallbladder cleanses from the Mayo Clinic, one of the top hospitals in the country. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/gallbladder-cleanse/AN01283.
Feel better soon!
Actigall can dissolve gallstones and help prevent them, also can lower your cholesterol, don't play with cleanese with out your doctors permission, gallbladder surgery is usually a 1 day surgery with little pain, see your doctor and see what needs to be done

I thought ursodiol was a common prescription post op, as a preventive measure against gallstones. With our decreased stomach size comes a decreased about of stomach acid to dissolve this stuff. I'm already on it because i have had gallbladder issues in the past.
I just had my gall bladder removed a couple weeks ago. Don't mess with it if you've had two attacks in a short period and your liver enzymes are off. Definitely notify your surgeon and PCP--at least let them know what's going on. They may want to do an ultrasound of your gallbladder to see if there are any stones. Untreated gallbladder issues can lead to yucky things like pancreatitis. Also, drugs like ursudiol can take YEARS to dissolve stones if you've already got them.
Since you're symptomatic, my guess is one or both doctors will tell you it needs to come out. It's usually a day surgery. I was off work for a week because I just didn't bounce back as quickly as I thought I would.
Hope you feel better!
Actigall/Ursdiol;s ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Lecithin (Phosphatidylcholine) , Glycine, and Taurine .. supplementin them..and you bypass all the chemical CRAP that is in Actigal/Ursodiol.
Know that GALLBLADDER problems..is a LIVER (biliary) problem.
Flushes..been doin em ...well almost 2 years now Im due for another GB flush soon..try to get 1 in every 4 months anymore. Get a little bit of brown sediment & tiny cute emerald green stones anymore. 2 years now.. No fever, no attacks and no pain...NO SURGERY! I love doin gallbladder flushes! Always feel GREAT after one! ..Hadn't had an attack...well since I started doin them. My migraines completely stopped after starting flushes.
Went from a gallbladder full of small stones, and sludge, thickened walls needing to get my gallbladder removed right then and there when I went to the ER with a wicked attack 2 years ago (thank gawd for morphine! was able to walk away from surgery!) ... to...a few stones, normal walls at my last ultrasound ~8 mos ago. Accordin to my gastroent doc..my gallbladder normal for my age and gender.
But he lies! he said my gallbladder was full of small stones and sludge..My flushes results ..hardly NO sludge whatsoever. Ive passed ~15 stones the size of a quarter! no lie! I freeze my big ones. I showed em to my PCP and Gastroent doc...both said they were olive oil poop! lmao!! We're completely cleaned out before a flush.. Olive oil doesn't crystallize into stones overnight ..so tell me then big pharma DOCTOR$$$...what happened to my "full of small stones and sludge" gallbladder that had to come out asap 6 months previously! lmao!! They're still scratchin their heads on that one!! Im the fish that got away..ha!
I used to cut my big ones open they're a trip...very soft waxy fatty center, then layers.like tree rings of cholesterol gettin harder "calcifyin" outter. Thousands upon thousands of light brownish-yellow stones that I call "gravel" cuz it looks like gravel HA!
2 of my post gallbladder flushes (apple juice fast) were bowel movements almost formed stool..of pure sediment gravel sized stones! Lots of small black stones ..some hard as rocks! those are OLD stones. Lots of ..emerald green soft waxy ones those are NEW stones. Can't attach my pics of em sumthing about my browser settings ![]()
When you first start to do flushes...your layin on your right side for the (FRIDAY or SATURDAY!) night ...may have a heat pad on your right side...your right knee up toward your chest....you MAY feel....a sensation that I describe as MARBLES loadin into a pinball machine...HA! you can actually feel stones loadin into your bile duct ready for release into your intestinal tract. Don't be scared...n If ya don't feel it..don't matter.
For an attack..at onset...my go to was/is ..Epsom salts 1 TBS in 8oz warm water...stir till dissolved...use a straw cuz its nasty! Suck on a lemon or tomato slice right after neutralize mouth..avoid nausea. It will help CLEAN YOU OUT...and relieve pressure.
I buy the 6 pound bags HA! Ive done many flushes!
Epsom salts is a MAJOR component...to a flush..as the magnesium soothes and DILATES =opens the gallbladder /duct...so the stone will pass/expel. Stuck stone=pain. As part of the flush taken the night before...it CLEANS ya OUT let me tell ya! so the next day...alls you do pass is STONES! Make sure you follow up a flush with lots of water...the magnesium is very tuff on the kidneys...the roughly 5 pounds you lose doing a flush..IS WATER... the magnesium draws virtually all water outta every cell along your GI tract!
Can try cayenne pepper in water, ACV in water ..for an attack as well ...not as effective for me...but noteworthy. Great for GERD symptoms too ,-)
Your MOM may be the BEST source of info on HER flushes recipes
My very best gallbladder flushes with the MOST stones removed at one shot.....was when doin 2-3 day apple juice +distilled water fasts (no food whatsover)...FIRST, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbrNbGl1-vA. and the website http://www.cleansingorsurgery.com/cleansingorsurgeryinfo.php
then I do Hulda Clarks gallbladder flush http://curezone.com/cleanse/liver/huldas_recipe.asp altho I never used the Orinthine (to help sleep) nor did I ever do the Black Walnut Tincture for liver parasites...Ive done wormwood cleanse, and also mega doses of COQ10...no parasites tho :-) The fasting and flush...was most productive. Ya feel like a million bucks following.
Hulda's protocol is do a flush once every 2 weeks....until your gallbladder is cleaned out and not many stones... It is a trip! I did my flushes religiously for ~2-3 months...then ..once a month for quite a while till hardly nothin comin out.. ..now once every ~4-6 months max

Andreas Moritz'
RIP!! ....his website Q&As on Liver Gallbladder flush very interesting read...hes written a book on Liver/Gallbladder Flushes. Has some YouTube videos out on flushes too... Check those out too maybe... If you can...listen to some of his audio interviews...will blow your mind! If your into Facebook, twitter..check him out there.
At curezone.com where he was a member for many years...more info on his flushes as well. This immortal is the closest thing to the modern day Ghandi of mind & body... imo! HA!
I also used to supplement w/ Chanca Piedra and on occasion Pau d'Arco (great for candida as well)..Ive read good things about Gold Coin Grass...but never needed/tried it...the Chanca Piedra worked wonders! Read up more about Chanca Piedra "stone breaker" at Mayo Clinic, WebMD websites.
Can get the fresh leaves, powder for teas (ebay, amazon, health food/natural stores)..or supplement ~500mg -1000mg every night pill form (which I did)...can chew em, break up easily...tastes like alfalfa! HA! ...I'll take it occasionally now.. I do still add fresh Pau d Arco bark to my liver cleansing/ dandelion root teas I drink a few times a week.
I did lots of dietary changes...mainly avoiding ANIMAL sat fats, FRIED foods...especially late afternoon/ night...NO fatty cheesy greasy high animal protein
it was a 1.5 slices of bacon (3 jalapeno poppers at dinner) ..that triggered my 1st attack over 2 years ago....Ive probably had 1.5 strips of anything pork total since then!! HA! (pork highest sat fats-processed breakfast / pork meats thee worst) ... in actuality Ive eliminated virtually all animal flesh/fats, dairy, n eggs from my diet. .... get majority of my daily protein & fats from plants/carbs! coconut, nuts/butters, avocados, olives, for cooking ..cold pressed olive oil and coconut oil (great moisturizer for face!! for hair DHT remover/ pre shampoo conditioner) , ......I do love my morning whey protein coffee/tea and FF cottage cheese & homemade salsa/ homemade greek yogurt hummus, .and carbmasters yogurt! and do get some daily supplements from animal (D3) . ..so can't call myself a vegan...that's for sure ,-) .
Animal eaters not plant eaters have gallbladder issues , highest purines/uric acid in animal flesh,, refined carbs, hydrogenated oils foods to avoid.
With VSG and high animal protein diets (purines/^^uric acid)...you see 1 reason why its so prevalent for us, why some docs routinely put peeps on Actigal/Ursodiol prophylactically thru the rapid fat loss phase. Women-estrogen/S (produced, stored & released in fat cells), history of or current use of oral only BC pills and HRTs increases risk..
Our livers producing 2-3xs the NORMAL amount of daily cholesterol and bile...... Most Americans ..VSG or not..gallbladders usually go kablooie at some point if not during the rapid fat loss phase..at some point like mine did ,-) Gallbladder removal is prolly top senseless but especially LUCRATIVE of all surgeries in the US...our diets suck let's face it!
ACV, lemon added to water, and teas are high on my water intake list.
SOLUBLE plant fiber is HIGH on my food list now..as soluble fiber binds bile so more is eliminated vs. recycled to gallbladder or as in my case....gettin so full...backing into the liver ducts causing infection (elevated liver enzymes).....
I also make sure I eat an ORGANIC green apple ...pretty much everyday. Pectin/malic acid! and ....remember..any non-organic store bought apple is nasty (thee highest in pesticides)...so avoid em if apples/pectin/malic acid is a part of YOUR gallbladder dietary plan. Beets...I love em! beet greens, Beet juice broth!..whatever broth is left by winter... I de-ice my front steps! HA! Lots of dietary changes..roasted garlic I love it! radishes!! great! eat em raw! lol Cucs..yummy for my tummy, tumeric/curry omg! lmao! I could go on and on of GREAT healthy food items...for a hostile gallbladder!
These websites were pretty good to help with dietary ..when I first started out...maybe they will help you too
Make sure you are MOVING!! everyday if ya can squeeze in some exercise! walk...walk ...walk..aquacize, Wii , dance , jump on a stationary bike..sumthin.....it is SOOO important to prevent attacks. Why I truly believe my gallbladder gave out at 2 years out...vs...before. I quit movin for a long while (injury). Next stop.....gallbladder went out! Avoid heavy lifting while in gallbladder distress mode tho...as that exertion can trigger an attack also ok!
Absolutely give it a shot.... What do ya got to lose? cept stones!
me..Im runnin outta body parts! They ain't takin mine without a fight ,-) Didn't take my stomach without a fight either! HA!
