The liquid stage is hard. Hell, so is mushy. Once you move on the to "real" food the store is kind of fun. It is like going on a treasure hunt for low carb/low cal foods that fit into you plan. You will also start to notice what other people are putting in their cart and you wont believe the crap you were eating. I spend lots of time there reading lables and looking for new foods.
The breath thing... I dont know if it gets better or if I just stopped noticing how bad it is. I buy Altoids. They have, I think, one calorie and 0 carbs. Many cant chew gum post surgery. It makes your tummy gassy. Even sugar free gum has a carb or two. If Im eating carbs...I want it to be from food and not gum.
I dont have any suggestions for liquids. I did a lot of sugar free jello. I am not a sweets person so I got pretty sick of shakes and jello. I did buy unflavored prot powder and added it to low sodium broth. I wanted something savory. Google eggface recipies. There are food for all stages.
Welcome to the other side. Im sure you will do great!

Thank you for the suggestions re bad breath. It just has been really getting to me the smell. It puts me off wanting to eat just about anything as I can smell it all the time. As for gum, I will probably pick some up today and see how I go with that. I have never really chewed gum before now :)

I am very much the same as you, walking around the shops was just overwhelming with HOW MUCH food people put into their trolleys! Its crazy, and I would have been worse then them!
