oh please help
Yep. This part sucks, but it will be over soon. Just hang in there. I became a Jello and Broth connoisseur during my pre op liquids.
Know what you mean. First day after surgery I got Jello and every time I swallowed I thought my stomach was gonna pop. It hurt so bad. On to broth and still pain. I have spasms and cramps each time something hits my stomach, no matter what it is, water, Gatorade, Jello, Broth or pureed soup. It has gotten better and I am only 8 days post-op so I am keeping my fingers crossed that by next week this time I can eat without pain.
As far a the gurgling sounds go, mine are super loud too and it is like crackling and gurgling at the same time. It doesn't really bother me since it doesn't hurt.
Also, try different temps, cold, or warm or hot, and then you can see what you can tolerate easier. Hope this helps.
Hugs,
Rita
I found that keeping the liquids thin really helped. At first, although I was straining things, I think they were too thick. Once I started thinning my soups out with extra broth (low-sodium, low-fat) they went down easier and it helped with my liquid intake for the day. I'd add just a tbsp of low-fat greek yogurt to them quite often. Bonus protein.
Warm works well for me so sipping on herbal teas and low-sodium miso soup sometimes settles the noises.
Noisy might be a new way a life for my tummy, but it's early days. We'll see.
Warm broth and SF Strawberry Jello helped me through that. I chewed the heck out of the Jello, too.
I am 16 days post and my sleeve and belly are still noisy little brats. :)
Hang in there!!
I was told only clear liquids the first week. I was told not to bring Jello in to my food plan for at least 2 more weeks. I am drinking water, Crystal Light, and Isopure. Occasionally I have a sugar free popsicle. Thinking of trying some broth tonight. I am tired of the sweet flavors. Maybe your stomach would like some warm tea.
it looks like everyone on here has got basically the same answer and its right in line with what worked for me too. first you have to determine the temp range from hot to cold I did warm to cool well, the extremes didn't work for me of or much on the cooler to cold temps. Water didn't work well but most of the crustal light and generic crystal light flavors worked well. chicken and beef broths I use to to mix with strained chicken or beef soups.
Like campbells condensed chicken gumbo, mix that as per directions, heat and then strain out ALL the chunks. now cook up a batch of Campbells condensed chicken broth and mix the two together. I'd eat about 4-6 ounces of this per meal, same concept with the beef soups. Lots of different popsicles out there so experiment with those.
Make sure you log all your food My Fitness Pal does real good, if you go there and request a friend of me you’ll be able to see everything I've eaten since I got home from the hospital. I’m interested in doing with as many people as possible so we can keep each other on track and get ideas from one another on what to have.
