Hello fellow sleevers. I read these forums everyday I just don't post much. I had my surgery at Highland Hospital in Rochester NY on December 6th of this year. They are an excellent program and highly regarded for bariatric surgery. I was blessed to have the chief of surgery do my sleeve and remove my gall bladder. I was in the Hospital for two days. I got through it ok. I return to work on January 7th. He said my sleeve was easy the gall bladder was the hard part and that it was quite nasty. They have a very conservative eating plan then many I read about here. I am on pureed foods for 4 weeks. And that means chicken, turkey, and tuna fish only pureed. I can have soft fish such as haddock as well. I have two protein shakes and then three pureed meals. I will then be on soft foods for four weeks then I will be on regular foods after that. I have lost 22 pounds since my surgery date. It amazes me that a 1/4 cup of scrambled eggs leaves me full. I am also lucky as not having any major complications. I used the bathroom and walked a little after my surgery. I can drink 33 ounces in about an hour to an hour and a half. Not that I do that often. I get at least 64 ounces sometimes 100 or more. I continue to look forward to what sleeve life is like once I can eat regular food and I can try some of the recipes of here. I was told by the nurse practitioner that she gives credit to people that get this done right before Christmas. My mother in law will cook me a nice piece of haddock and I will have some sugar fee pudding at some point so it should not be too bad. I want to thank you all for being such a caring helpful community and I look forward to learning all I can about my sleeve. I met someone in the lobby who is in the process of getting the sleeve waiting for my one week check up. I was able to give him all kinds of information and recommended this website to him. Another lady was also in the lobby working on getting a sleeve. Her husband had a DS 2 years ago and lost 350 pounds so know she wants to have surgery. The one guy's mother said she was amazed at how good I looked compared to other people she has seen right after gastric bypass. I said yup that is the beauty of the sleeve.

Congrats on your successful surgery!  Frankly, I had pureed foods for a couple of weeks, then soft foods, and didn't see much difference!  LOL!  Mine was still almost 4 weeks before "solids".   Some things, like tuna and canned chicken are so soft that pureeing them doesn't change them much!  Or maybe I didn't puree them long enough!

I too was one of the "lucky ones" post op.  No real problems (after a couple of hours of completely expected post-op nausea) -- and I was up all night doing laps around the hall (who can sleep in the hospital anyway!).

Let's hope our great beginnings are just the beginning -- and that this time next year, we'll be the ones showing off our before and after shots!

Welcome and best of luck on your journey!

This forum really is a benefit for anyone just thinking about it, as well during and after. Like you, I am so excited now that it's really happened, so see what my future holds. It really is life changing in so many ways.

Best to you!
