Kitchen Gadget Disease- Yonana and Baby Cakes Pie Maker

I know, it is foolish to buy "makers".  You know, those highly marketed kitchen devices that does only one thing and whatever that one thing can be done just fine in a regular pan.  But I can't help it.  I come from generations of women afflicted with kitchen gadget disease.  Today though, a few are noteworthy for my Oh friends.

The Yonana.  This is a device that you smash frozen fruit through and it makes sorbet or a creamier version if banana is used.  I am allergic to banana, but the version my daughter did included banana which made the final result much creamier.  And it is super healthy- nothing but frozen fruit and because you are making it you can control the portion made.  No half gallon of temptation stuck in your freezer!  This device is awesome.  It comes out of the little gadget like soft serve ice cream.  Highly recommend this gadget!!  My daughter LOVES it!  Oh, and super fast and easy clean-up.  Truly a win, win, win.

Baby Cakes Pie Maker.  Really what I wanted was a gadget that would help make smaller, sleeve friendly portions.  All of these types of devices are the same- just a nonstick surface that heats up.  Depending on the maker you choose the shape of the final product changes.  I wanted the pie one because I figured it would be the most versitle- eggs, quiche, cupcake, etc.  It does take up a chunk of storage space, but easy to use and I do like the portion size.  This may be one that I later regret if I end up not using it much.  Time will tell.

Now the crepe maker I bought a few years ago was a total waste.... along with a long list of other impulsive kitchen gadget purchases :)

Merry Christmas all!!

Hi, my name is Shannon and I'm a kitchen gadget-aholic. I LOVE kitchen gadgets. I have panini makers, griddles, grills, ninja, vitamix, juicer, etc etc etc!!! The list is endless. My husband will have to build me a bigger kitchen soon.

I have the Yonanas Maker. LOVE it! My husband loves it more than I do. I have been eyeing the little baby cakes makers. I think the one that make the waffle sticks is cute. I just can't justify it. I mean, I have a waffle iron, do I really need one that makes waffle sticks?

Merry Christmas!

You ladies are funny....

Sell the crepe maker and the other gadgets on CL?? I'm not a kitchen gadget person per se but I would have to purge those out of my home.

Happy Holidays everyone!

I have to laugh cause at our house hubby is the gadget guy and is forever buying these things for me and I really hate them. Like you said I can do the same thing with a regular item and all they do is clutter up my counter. Funny how different we can be!

I know, I wish I could not be afflicted with this disease.  Spent today playing with gadgets.  I guess it is just my grown-up version of toys at Christmas.

Did anyone out there get a fun gadgeet?

My Christmas gadget this year is a fitbit. Bought Lovey a Sony wifi ereader. (He really loves mine, so figured I'd share the joy - and get mine back!)

I bought a Babycakes cupcake maker awhile back and use it for Fred-sized flax muffins. It's really quick and easy to clean. I've been admiring the pie one, but might let my sis buy one first and get her to bring it here next visit.

Tell me more about your pie maker. What are you using as crust?

I am not a cook, just a chick with a gadget disease.  I use the Pillsbury ready made crusts.  It does recommend to roll them out thinner then what they come.  I used it once for baby quiche and rolled it out thinner, and it turned out fantastic.  Just know that you have to start with a cold pie maker, and it can only make 4 at a time.  I have 3 kids so it would be terribly impractical to try to do multiple batches in between due to cool down time.  But, I still like it!  I put some cake batter in there yesterday and it makes nice cupcakes too, and really fast. I think next I am going to try the quiche filling without the crust and see if that will work.  Protein muffins are going to happen too!

I can relate WAYYYYY too much

My user name to another site was gadget girl! I love my gadgets. I have a fit bit, the aria scale, a ninja ( best blender ! although the vitamix looks awesome - can't justify the price) cake pop maker, yonanas, actifry, hmmmm I'm sure more.

I barely use the yonanas but love it. The actifry is huge but pretty cool.

Love my fit bit and scale, my ninja gets used every day making my click!
