I don't want to make dinner...

I feel like making dinner is a life sentence! It's weird because I have spurts where I LOVE to cook and I will cook all day long and then other times, like now, when I'm just sick of it. I think I was spoiled because for the last 10 days on vacation haven't had to cook anything, and now that I'm back in the routine, I don't want to. I have found tons of recipes that I would love to try on Pinterest but I always just end up choosing something super easy and fast. Anyway, I'm trying to make a case to my husband that we need a chest freezer. That way I can cook a bunch at once and freeze and heat it when I want to. He doesn't want to pay to run it and thinks it's an unnecessary expense. Whatevs, Bro, Whatevs.  Ok. I'm done whining now. :) Time to chain myself to the stove for all eternity!

HI... you are not alone.  I have not even had surgery yet and I never cook. I hate it. I suck at cooking, etc.  I don't lie about it either.  My husband does all the cooking and partly the reason I am 250 pounds.  He cooks everything so delish and he too is very overweight.  I gained 50 pounds since I met him just over 4 years ago.  If he is not cooking we are going to eat.  He is mexican and I am frowned upon by his family because I do not cook for him!  If I cooked, he'd be underweight because he would find a way totally alter it or just not eat it at all! LOL  I cannot cook and don't pretend to do so! LOL  I AM, however, gonna have to because for myself as I cannot eat what he makes any longer.  I am on a 1200 calorie diet to lose a few pounds before getting a surgery date (only need to lose 15).  I could only hope that my restricted diet makes me a master chef at making delish tiny portions that are pouch friendly :-)

Good Luck in the kitchen!

I don't mind the cooking, but I hate washing dishes.  :)

That cooking-ahead idea sounds good if you can manage it.

Over the past year I've gotten to where I don't want to either and we'll order in or go out to eat and that's gotten expensive and a sore subject for my husband.   Used to be that I loved planning and cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Now, you can barely nudge me to make lunch and/or dinner.  I tried that cooking a bunch of stuff and putting it in the freezer thing..it didn't work for me b/c I hated being on my feet all day for that one day.  Oh well..I have to do the same..chain myself to the bleeping stove.  Just know..you are not alone. lol

Normally I like cooking, but hate cleaning.  Unfortunately, I do both or they don't get done.  I have 2 small kids, so someone has to feed them.  Even though I was just sleeved last Friday, I made them dinner last night and lunch today, and I'll probably end up making dinner tonight, too.  My husband is one of those people who doesn't notice he's hungry, accidentally skips meals, etc. (aren't they annoying??), so my kids would starve to death if he was in charge of the cooking.  The whole time I was in the hospital he just took them to restaurants.

He's not a bad guy, this just is not an area where he excells.

I am pathetic! I hate cooking more than anything in the world. My parents live around the corner and we eat there every night. I buy the groceries and my mom cooks. It's way cheaper than eating out or take out. She is a really great cool too!

GET THE FREEZER!!!

My wife and I used to cook one weekend a month(and I mean the whole weekend, all day Saturday and all day Sunday. 14-16 different recipes and at least 4 servings per recipe. then for the next month, grab a bag out of the freezer on the way into the house from work, through into a pot of boiling water or the microwave and dinners ready in 5-10 minutes, paper plates and cleanup every night is a breeze. Try using the zip lock brand zip and steam bags for perfectly cooked, any type of veggie you can imagine, perfectly cooked every time, delicious!

EDIT - By the way, there are so many people on these boards that have food blogs. Keith L. has one, eggface has one and the Elina has awesome recipes on her home page, karismommy231 just started a low carb food blog and I think shes going to have recipes posted, I think Frisco has a food blog, and theres a lot more. This web site is the BEST resource for so much stuff!

Another for getting the chest freezer.  They make them small enough now that it doesn't take much to run and they save so much on time and food $$.  The key is to keep them almost full if just jugs of ice.  I haven't had that problem since the kids left home.  Our is always stuff.

A freezer costs less annually to run than a single meal out these days.  Tell him to suck it up and buy the freezer!!  You can always unplug it when not in use.  I unplugged mine when I got divorced, haven't plugged it back in yet.  Even now with a new man in the picture, I eat so little that I haven't seen a need to plug it back in.

If your hubby doesn't want to get a freezer, maybe he'll step up and split the cooking chores with you? He should! :-)
