Fiber One Protein Bar
Just sharing out... today at Sams I found Fiber One protein bars. Not the best nutritional profile, but not the worst. In maintainance I am switching to these from Detour bars (low sugar, from Sams too). During weight loss I used the general rule of 1 gram of protein for every 10 calories, so this falls a little short. But, due to the fiber I would have tried it to see if it worked out ok. These are a lot cheaper per bar than my Detour bars too, and taste is typical for Fiber One.

HAPPYTEACHER!!!
My wife is fond of saying most men stop emotionally maturing in 7th grade. I hate to prove her right but I love the fiber one bars. I didn't eat them for 3 years prior to surgery because I was making a full then half ass effort to stay on plan with medifast. Before medifast though I loved them. The flavor/taste wasn't great but acceptable, I didn't care about the nutritionals either. My attraction was purely sophmoric at best. I called them party noise makers. They gave me gas terribly, sometimes painfully, but always very loud and lots of volume too. The effect would last 4-6 hours for me.
I wouldn't dream of touching one of those things now, no way, not post DS surgery! I live by a new set of rules now, one of those rules being, "Never trust a fart". Nutritionally though, anything that has rtwice as many carbs as protein shouldn't really be called a protein bar should it. Maybe it should be called a carb bar...
Since your a teacher I have a test for you, Below is a nutritional label would you say that is a good protein bar?

You made me smile Texas. I am not well-versed in the potential side affects of the DS, but my sleeve system handles it no problem. Now if I ate 3 a day then I would be having issues. 2 a day is a little touch and go. Thing is, I can eat 3 Detour a day and not have it mess with me so the fiber in this is a double benefit. Get the fiber in that I need, but a little dose of "don't over do it" right along side it. IDK, we will see. I have a box to try. If I can be responsible it is a good fit, if not time to go back to the Detour bar.

No, that one does not cut the mustard either. The Fiber One is too light on protein for the calories, but in maintenance I am Ok with that. The one above is way out of wack with the calories to protein ration, and too much sugar.

Lol, didn't catch your spelling hint there :) Actually, if I had to guess I would have thought there would have been more calories in those puppies!

Hey Tex ( is it OK if I call you Tex -- we've been through so much together! LOL!).
I saw you did Medifast before (as did I), and I still have a few Medifast bars, and some other shakes, etc. My NUT said OK to the Medifast shakes post-op, but not other foods. I pointed out to her that all Medifast food is nutritionally the same, something she wasn't aware of, so theoretically, she's OK with it.
I haven't had any of my bars, but since they are 100 calories, Net carbs around 10, and protein at 11, I've kept them around for emergencies. I found several varieties quite tasty (choc. mint, caramel crunch and oatmeal).I had considered posting a thread asking if anyone had used them post op,
Your thoughts?
Good luck with those! They taste great but they always gave me TERRIBLE gas and belly/intestinal pains before surgery. I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole now. Please let us know how they affect you! I wouldn't buy them in bulk just yet. Until you know how they will affect your new tummy.
Hoping for the best for you. fingers crossed!
No issues with them either now or pre op. My sleeve is made of steel though- nothing bothers me.
