Tasty treat and a numbers question
DH picked up some PB2 for me today! Yay! I've been wanting to try it for a while now. Since I had already eaten, I put it in some skim milk and added a packet of sweetener. I'm actually enjoying it. haha (I'm not a big milk drinker.)
Now for the question. What should caloric, carb, and sugar numbers look this early on? The papers my NUT gave me are for a 1000-1200 calorie diet. I obviously can't get that much in at this point. My calories haven't gone over 700 (on a bad day), and I'm keeping my carbs in the 50-55/day range. I wasn't given anything specific besides 60-70g of protein and over 64oz of fluids. I'm trying to be very careful, but it's hard when it's a guessing game. I don't want to sabotage myself this early on.
Just understand that based on your program requirements our programs are really different.
My program required me to get my protein in, at least 70 grams, more is better. Calories should be around 600-800 but you are not required to hit the 600 number. Eating more calories is not considered something to strive for on my program, only hitting your protein goals is required. I ate somewhere in the 300-400 calorie range for the first few months and my doctor was totally fine with it as long as it was almost all protein. Carbs are to stay under 40 with under 20 being preferable. So you see the programs are just really, really different.
I'm pretty new around here too, but I follow the advice to max out at no more than 40 carbs (although my count is typically around 25) and I keep my protein minimum at 70. If I've met 70, I stop eating. I also use 64 oz water as minimum :). My method represents what I'd most likely the most common wisdom here, in addition to the 600-800 calorie limit.

My NUT told me to maximize weight loss to try and stay between 400 and 600 hundred calories daily...in a nutshell...protein first, then veggies. After six months we will re-evaluate and see where I am in my weight loss...I don't know if that helps you or not. On the other hand I have a friend whose NUT okayed a diet of about 1000 calories after phase 3....however she is struggling with weight loss so I wouldn't say it has been as effective. Just an F'YI.
After following this board I have found if I follow what the vets say. 600 to 800 calories a day over 70 grms protein, under 40 grms carbs I do really well. That is in no way to say I am perfect some days I am closer to the 1000 calories, but the best results are with the lower calories. On the higher calorie days I have protein over 90 grms. Good Luck just log your food and you will figure out what works best for your body.
