How do YOU de-stress?

I'm sure some of you know our current situation with my stepson. Add to that the stress of the military life and just being...well...Momma, things just keep piling up. I'm looking for new ways to help myself relax and take my mind off of things.

The stress is getting to me. I'm able to get my fluids in just fine, but I'm not tolerating foods as well. I know I need to kick this now before things get worse. Please? Help? I am going to support groups and talking with a counselor, as well. I'm just wondering if there's some techniques I haven't heard of or tried.

I am a social worker and we always have to de-stress or the job would take over!  I honestly have to make time for myself.  My thing is a hot bath while reading a book.  For a while I sat on my back yard while listening to the birds.  Now I enjoy running.  Whatever is your thing.  I have friends who write in a journal what is the cause of their stress and seeing it on paper helps.  They make lists too.  I way in the Navy with a Marine hubby so military ife can be tough!  Maybe google self-care for more strategies.  We had to talk about it weekly and discuss what we did. Therefore it became a habit.  I have been a social worker 4 years and I seriously do it for my sanity and my family's sanity, lol.  Good luck!

Believe it or not, I find going to the gym helps de-stress me.  I'm also really loving baths right now.  You could try either of those.  Or even just getting out and talking a short walk, getting some fresh air.  Reading has helped me in the past and a good nap, too!!
