Weighing and Measuring Your Food -- do you?

This is the first time I've weighed, measured and recorded my food.  I think my not doing so in the past may have contributed to my difficulties.  For wls patients, where protein and calorie intake numbers are so critical. I think it would be incredibly difficult to accurately know where you are at each day and how your numbers change as your eating patterns change over time.  I'm always amazed at the differences in protein counts for different types of the same protein source - seafood being a good example.  I also can see how the calories can so easily creep up while protein ratios go down with slight variances in my diet.  Same goes for the need to adjust portions.  With wls, every bite we take is so important, so I am a firm supporter of weighing, measuring and recording my food - it's actually made things a lot easier, while increasing my accountability level.

didn't weigh during my biggest loosing phase...kinda just eyeballed it. I'd buy 8oz paper cups and figured that halfway filled would be my 4oz right there. I didn't think it much a big deal b/c I'd get so full so fast anyway so I didn't think I was overeating. And I'm down about 91 lbs. However, at 10 months out and being able to eat soooo much more, I think I will be more proactive with using all my measuring cups. I may even buy an extra one for work. And I am definitely going to buy a scale this weekend. Any cheap yet efficient scale ideas???? I wanna go buy one asap!

I weigh and measure everything.  My husband had surgery 4 months prior to me and he wont weigh or measure so I usually fix his plates to keep him on track.  Makes it more accurate when logging food into MFP.  If im at a restaurant I can't obviously but anywhere else I sure can.

I have been lately.  It helps to weigh and track.  It keeps me from having my way with food.

I dont measure everything, but I do for things like meat, as its such a waste if I eye measure it and get it wrong and end up throwing it out. For liquidy things like yoghurt, I use a bowl that has measurements marks in it, so its easy.

I've got pretty good at judging my portions of most things by eye and if anything, eat too little rather than too much most of the time.

As I get out further though, I will go through phases of measuring again as my capacity changes and I have to get my head around it. At the moment though, my capacity is still so small, less than 1/2 cup of yoghurt, or under 2 oz meat, Ive got used to what that looks like size-wise (brilliantly tiny!!!....lol)

When I don't weigh/measure/record my food for extended periods of time, I start eating poorly, and then start gaining weight.  I can do ok with not doing it for a day or two, but beyond that is a slippery slope for me!  I do my best if I weigh myself and my food every day, and keep a food journal :)

Currently, I measure. I am looking for a handy digital scale. I made the mistake of buying one at my local Walmart and put my portion of food on it and the scale didn't even move. I really need a scale for things that are not easy to measure like chicken! kiss

Yep I still do it even 4 years later. I guess it's just a habit now. It's worked for me and I haven't regained at all.
