Stressful days and food.

I had a bad day because of things entirely outside my control (like my bi-polar sister).  My husband is making my kids a frozen pizza and it smells amazing (even though, please, it's a frozen pizza, I know it doesn't taste THAT good).

But I am so ready to eat something real, it's seriously tempting to try, if not that, something else I could actually eat (I'm 3 1/2 weeks out) that is NOT on my plan.

I'm not going to, but it's kind of like torture.  And my husband just said, "we're going to sit at the table if you're interested."

I just don't think I have it in my tonight.  Usually I at least sit with them while they eat, and I maybe eat some cottage cheese or something, but tonight, I just don't think I can.

I HATE that my sister can do this to me.  I have a therapists appt tomorrow and I'm sure we'll talk about her the entire damned time, and then I am pissed off and resentful that my crazy sister is monopolizing MY therapy session, as if I don't have enough of my own issues.

I don't know why I'm posting this here.  I just thought you all might understand.  I want to eat something with flavor, I have not gotten enough protein yet today, the thought of drinking another protein shake is just, blah, and I feel guilty I'm not sitting with my family while they eat, but today, I just can't.  I wish they'd had sandwiches.  At least I wouldn't smell those.

Hon, it's amazing how people can get under your skin and wreck your nerves. Vent to the therapist, but don't let her consume you. Right now, she's consuming your life.

As far as not sitting at the table, you do what you have to do. I didn't sit with the families at all until I was able to eat. It was just too depressing for me. You're not far from being able to eat. Stay strong!

I totally can relate! My son's birthday (11 years old) was Saturday and he decided he wanted pizza and wings for lunch. I couldn't bring myself to sit with them while they all ate it and the smell was pure torture! It wasn't worth getting a flavor I could eat for 1 or 2 little wings so they got medium and buffalo. Not something I'm up to trying at barely 3 months out. The last thing I want is some heartburn or stomach pain. I'm sure deep down your family understands why you couldn't sit with them while they ate...

I get it, really I do.  There were days when I could not sit with my family and have dinner. I just couldn't do it.  You know what?  That's OK, they understood that this is a temporary situation and eventually I would be able to join them again.  Of course it is not a big deal at all now and hasn't been in ages.  You are doing all the right things.  Protect your health right now, that is what is really important, you are really important.  Hugs.

So sorry, Sarah. It does sound like a very trying day. You should feel proud that you made it through and resisted that nasty frozen pizza. Hugs. :-)

Get some ricotta cheese

Put some in a bowl, add some dehydrated onion and garlic and a sprinkle of oregano, top with a little marinara or a a slice of fresh tomato.  Sprinkle on some feta.

Stick it in the microwave for a minute or two  Let it sit for a few mins.  It's good, warm and it will give you a protein pizza experience!

If you want to mix an egg in there, it will give you more protein and it will be firmer. since the ricotta has a tendency to get runny when it is heated up.  If I use an egg, I make more than one serving because a whole egg is too much for one serving.  If you use those liquid eggs, you can control the amount better.

YUM, is there somewhere on our forum where we leave recipes... I can't keep trying to track down old threads, but this sounds delicious!
