Been a rough couple of days
I had to go into the ER last night. I had a migraine so severe that nothing touched it. The pills didn't work, the injections didn't work, NOTHING. I was getting sick anytime something went into my mouth. After 5 hours of retching, I finally had enough. Hubby brought me in and they gave me "the ****tail". (Phenergan, Benadryl, Toradol) They also gave me 2 Tylenols with codine in it. I don't know what happened next, but I started to have this uncontrollable urge to move my arms and legs. As I would fall asleep, I would jerk awake and start tossing and turning. I tried to tell the nurse what was going on, but I couldn't even talk. I would have to sit up and literally shake myself to fix the urge. The doctor didn't do anything, but said since my pain level was down, I was free to go home. The nurse walked me outside, I got in the car, and we left.
Today, the drugs were still in my system. I could barely wake up to get the midgets ready for school. :( I'm just glad the youngest decided to take an early nap. I slept for another 5 hours before I could actually get out of bed. To make things more UGH, I put on 3 lbs since last night. *headdesk*
Do you think it hit you harder/faster/longer because you've been sleeved?
You have been having a rough time overall in the past several weeks as I recall. I hope things get better soon for you. Hang in there, and do keep trying to take good care of yourself.
My suspicion is the Phenergan for the restless legs and arms. I've heard similar horror stories related to some of the anti-nausea meds. I cannot take Reglan as it caused me to have the same reaction. I make sure to list it on my "allergies" list. I can take Zofran/ondansetron for nausea...it works wonders. I'm sorry you felt so crummy! Hope you feel better soon!
OMG The SAME thing happens to me on Reglan. My reaction was severe enough for them to have to hold me down. I tried to pull out my IV while screaming. I have taken the Phenergan before. Hell I lived on that and Zofran due to hyperemesis with my pregnancies. I guess things really do change after the surgery.
I'm sure the weight gain is fluid from your IV and will go away as quick as it came . Feel better soon !!
Christine
