Fat Makes You Skinny? and the reason for my frequent stalls!
I've considered ditching dairy altogether as well.
I don't drink milk (protein shakes are made w. almond or coconut milk). and I cook with mostly coconut oil but will occasionally use grassfed butter. I do like my cheese tho. I think I just feel better GI-wise if I don't eat it so I've been trying to restrict intake to once or twice a week just to see (and limiting to goat/sheep cheese as cow cheese can be troublesome for lots of folks). I've never tried to see if there's a correlation with weight loss tho, but now I'm really curious.

lol thank you... yes... it is a small price to pay. I think what is killing me is I bought it intending to have it pre-op but didn't get to even open it before the protein modified fast started.
Thankfully it is a 3 pack of vacuum sealed ones... *grin* I am totally having people over to celebrate or something with it. LOL! I have that and Bergeron Classic Gouda (that's getting opened when I make egg bites for dinner tonight). Mine and theirs will be different in composition but it is getting opened regardless... fat free turkey breast and gouda. I am so going to want to steal theirs but Ia m thinking maybe puree the turkey breast for mine. *ponders this*
I love this sleeve... 99.9% of the time. *grin*
Whenever you are cleared for mushy stuff, you could try making Eggface's Ricotta Bake and putting some goat cheese in that. Or, my personal fav: GOAT CHEESE RICOTTA. :)
Recipe in case you haven't seen:
Shelly's Baked Ricotta (from http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com)
8 oz of Ricotta Cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1 large Egg, beaten
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
salt & pepper to taste
1/2 cup Marinara Sauce
1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave.

her's sounds really tasty!
I did full fluid friendly baked Ricotta last week that tasted like pasta-less manicotti.
I did it in my 1 cup cuisenart casserole dish the first time but it works well in a 1 or 2 cup pyrex one too:
1/2 cup of light ricotta
1/4 cup of pure tomato sauce (basically it is pureed tomato only in this)
1/2 teaspoon of pureed basil
1/4 teaspoon of pureed garlic
1/4 teaspoon of oregano flakes
0.2 oz Romano cheese
1 babybel light grated on top - optional and I found not required unless it was a cottage cheese base instead of a ricotta base (I did both).
Press the ricotta in the bottom... Blend the other ingredients (outside of the babybel) and pour it over the top.
Bake at 350 for 20 minutes... Eat it.

I am trying to do things really measured right now and trying to follow the amounts laid out by my clinic. It takes me an hour to eat this (3/4 of a cup) but it is worth it.
I also use coconut or almond milk in my egg white jay robb protein shakes. I cook with coconut/olive oil.
I have proven the milk/no weight loss theory for *myself*. I was solidly in maintenance for a year in spite of still needing to lose 50#. I was solidly on plan. I tried EVERY.THING. More protein less protein,more/less carbs/more/less vegs. more/less protein drinks, all meat no protein drinks.more exercise/less exercise. Nothing. staying perfectly in maintaince ranging between a few #.I have absolutely NO fears about maintenance when the time =comes, lol.
I happened to read a blog that had the statement in it that dairy products would stop some peopls weight loss and nthe light bulb went off. Thos was back in aug or Sept or so and withoin two weeks of leaving off ALL dairy I was losing again. I have lost 8# since then and the scale continues to go down . if I eat any dairy,it will stall me till I don't have any for a day or so.
Giving up ANY food is a a small price to pay as far as I am concerned, because I am going to reach my goal THIS year. it will be my reward for hanging tough these last two years and not just giving up and throwing my hands up in the air and eating whatever i wanted,KWIM?
Now I eat meat and eggs good fats.period. There is no food I want more than I want to reach goal.
In December, month 9 for me,after average weight loss of about 7 pounds a month from month 6, and just because I was on the run all the time,I started making myself fried in olive oil chicken and beef strips (lightly dusted with flour though) and it was almost all I ate for 3 weeks.I knew my calories was higher and my fat was a lot higher so I couldnt add any carbs, except milk for my 5 cups of tea.
I lost 12 pounds.I didnt count fats or cals or carbs so I cannot tell you my numbers but it sure worked well.Came back from holiday, decided to do the same with the proteins but didnt stop eating other stuff.I did not have the same results.
And as for the ratio fat and protein. It could easily have been that high but because I was just eating the protein,I think I was eating less calories but around 100g or more of protein per day.one other thing I did was take 6 probiotics per day though. And I never needed a laxative in those 3 weeks either,a first since surgery.
Will try it this week without other foods but with the probiotics.I'll let you know how it goes.
