Lovenox shots after surgery
So i am being sleeved next month and was told i would go home on lovenox shots due to a possible previous blood clot. My concern is the pain of giving my self the shots in my stomach area where i may possibly have an incision. Can the lovenox shots be given anywhere else besides the belly area. I will be at home with family so someone else could give them to me if there is other areas that they can be given. Thanks in advance.
All of my incisions were above my waist. I was instructed to give myself the Lovenox shots in my abdomen, below the waist, nowhere near the incisions, alternating sides. I did that for 14 days after I came home. I only actually felt two of the shots, and it was nothing.
The shots are really user-friendly with teeny tiny little needles.

I have to disagree with some of the others.....I am on day 6 of these shots and 5 out of 6 hurt. I noticed that when the nurse did it, it did feel much better, but that is not an option at home. The last day I was in the hospital, the nurse had me practice while she watched.....I hate needles and I basically did it without looking. It burned. Today my husband did it and it also burned. However, I am not letting a couple of weeks with needles get in my way. I am just putting my big girl panties on and white knuckling it through. So, either way, don't worry. They will soon be a distant memory for you.
Also, I was told that I could use my stomach, the flabby part under my arm, or my thigh.

I've had to have these for 1 week before and at least 2 weeks after any surgery and I've had 13 last count. They really are easy, tiny little needle but don't squeeze or pinch the skin that makes it hurt worse and bruise worse according to the nurse that taught me. We usually have plenty of spare room for the shots even after surgery. You'll do fine and it's very important if you have had a clot before.
