Is it normal to be so weak with no to little carbs?

Today, I've only had 7 carbs. I've been eating steak leftovers and such. Definitely pushing my fluids. I'm determined to get 70 grams of protein in me. So far, I've got 56 grams. (Ran out of protein shakes, so I'm roughing it for a couple days until I can get to the store.) The only time I was this weak was during my first week post-op. I assume this is normal, but good LORD! I just woke up from a 2 hour nap, and I'm ready for another one.

How's your fluid intake? Not enough can make you tired too.

I've had about 70 oz so far. I just keep refilling a 32 oz bottle.

umm if you have some eggs you can do egg salad (8 eggs ) light mayonnaise on sliced cucumbers or tomatoes, that makes 4 servings and its 15 grams of protein a serving

just a idea

Thanks everyone! Hubby ran out and grabbed me a Naked protein shake. It has quite a bit of carbs and sugar in it, but I'm watering it down. I figure a little is better than nothing.

It certainly can be a shortage of carbs - fat is long term energy storage for us and metabolizing it for short term needs to replace carb intake only goes so far (as usual, there can be wide variations in how well we all do that fat-carb conversion.) Hypoglycemia, lethargy and brain fade can all come from being overly low on carb intake.

Several other nutritional issues may be at play - B12 is a common one as we don't absorb it as well as normal people and it is part of the mechanism for making red blood cells (low B12 can make you anemic.)

That's probably what's going on as well. My doctor is now leaving, so I have to see a different surgeon. Instead of a 1 month follow up for blood work, they're waiting until almost 3 months. Seems a bit crazy to wait that long, especially since my numbers were all over the place pre-op.
