Looks like I'm not going to be able to avoid this one. I've already got that painful rub rash under my stomach. I'm going to start getting it documented just in case I end up needing plastics down the road. Anyone have any good cream recommendations?? This thing STINGS!

have you ever tried drying the area really well (blow dry) and applying antiperspirant? A little trick my dermatologist shared a few years ago and and IT WORKS.....I shared it with a few people and they all use it successfully....Good luck!

I've tried that and even used Boudreaux's Butt Paste on it. lol I'm going to end up going to the doctor to see what they can say. I don't want it becoming an infection.

It really depends on the nature of the rash - you need to know if it is infected, if it is just a superficial irritation, or if there is yeast involved etc. etc.  before apply much of anything.  Once you "know your rashes" you will be able self-medicate - but with a new ra****'s always a good idea to see a doctor so you don't do something that inadvertently makes it worse.  Plus, as you said, documenting rashes will help you later if you hope to have insurance cover plastics.

As for me, I find using Aveeno's baby diaper cream works well to keep my under-belly rashes away. It is very gentle and does have that nasty odor that a lot of diaper creams have.  It's what I used on my own babies on the rare occasion that they got rashes, so I knew I liked the stuff.  It makes my rashes disappear within a couple of days, and if I keep applying it, it also keeps new rashes from forming.   The more I am sweating during exercise, though, the harder it is to keep the rashes away.  They can be extremely painful, so I really feel for you.  They suck.

I'm getting my belly overhang lopped off soon - hooray!!  I'll finally be able stop buying diaper cream.

Nutshell:

Lost 140 lbs with VSG. (Hooray!!)

got pregnant  (yeaaaa!)

got cancer (boooo!)

regained 40 lbs.   (grrrr!)

In summary: Alive & Grateful.

Oh I LOVE Aveno anything. My girls have extremely sensitive skin, so I use their creams a lot. I've notice that it's from sweating and running my butt off. I know my insurance makes it mandatory 16-18 months post op for plastics, which is fine. That makes it to where I am set in maintenance before doing anything. I just have to prove that the over hang is causing problems. If it's causing problems this early out, I want it documented. lol

GOld Bond Medicated Powder!!!! After you shower, towel dry well and apply generously. It may sting a little, but I'll tell, by the next morning it'll be cleared up!
