Hi Jeff- I think you will be fine on your side. I am a side sleeper as well (I snore when I sleep on my back and sleeping on my stomach hurts my back). However, I wasn't able to sleep in my bed comfortably for the first week. I slept on our lounger. I panicked the first night when I slept in my bed, I was on my back and tried to roll onto my side and felt like I couldn't move. I had to wake my husband to get me to up. My arms were not strong enough to pick myself up and I couldn't use my mid section to get up like I normally would have that soon.

Good luck!

Immediately post op. I propped my belly on a pillow to support the weight on which ever side I was lying on. Ask ur wife about that. If she has ever been pregnant she likely knows about propping up a belly.

I slept on my side even in the hospital from the day of surgery. I just used pillows for security and to support my stomach muscles. I propped one pillow in front of me and one behind me.

It took me close to a week.  I wish I had a recliner to sleep in that week.  Instead I slept on the couch propped up with pillows.  I felt some pulling when I tried to recline all the way.

My doctor said sleeping on my side was fine, but not on my back. I'm a side sleeper, so I did fine.
