Got my Cardiac Clearance - was nervous! Any vets with a history of heart disease?

Yeah!  After hearing from my internist that my nuclear stress test had some abnormal findings, I was extremely nervous to get the clearance - cardiologist had to review and study my case ( I've had two other nuclear stress tests).  I had a heart attack at 49 in 07 - had a stent put in - lead a heart healthy diet & lifestyle for 6-9 months.  I couldn't even watch anyone put butter on their roll in front of me for 3 months.  But alas, I eventually forgot about that and have had my head in the sand about my heart disease since then.

My cardiologist is all for the surgery - says the lightened load on my heart will definitely improve my heart health.  I will stay on cholesterol meds & plavix for the rest of my life.  My cholesterol numbers are great going into surgery.

Does anyone hear have heart disease and how has your health improved after the surgery?  From what I understand - placque does not go away - might get thinner?? Thanks for your input!

I have a surgery date of November 25 and am on the pre-op diet.  Alternating excitement & nerves.  Can't concentrate on anything!

Happy Healthy Heart Month!
