Ugh, I haven't been prescribed prednisone after surgery, but I certainly took it before. It made me gain a lot of wait!

for that reason alone, I'd be reluctant to take it again. Do you have any other medication options?

There's no restriction on meds with the sleeve.  Also, it sounds like a 5 day rx for it isn't life changing.  Probably not enough to make you gain weight and if it helps clear up bronchitis, take it.  You don't want it to turn into pneumonia.  ( just visited my brother who has pneumonia and he can barely breath right now.)

LN62 Yeah that's what i was scared of, getting pneumonia, I was so healthy after the sleeve, not like before when i got everything...So not being able to kick the bronchitis was awful, Also we live in the mountains where it is in the 30s most night and our wood burning stove is our heat source...I know for everyone else 30's is a walk in the park but for A California person that's cold man I digress...I started the prednisone and cant wait to be up and about again...Hope your brother feels better.

Thanks for replying...

I had some major allergic reaction for about 2 months after surgery and ended up on 3 doses of steroids. Dr said it was fine on the steroids, but expected my weightloss to slow way down, but it didn't. I noticed on the last pack, I was more irritable and felt a bit hungrier, but other than that, no issues. My Dr's thoughts on all meds are safe for sleeve is a bit different though. He doesn't really want me on tons of Ibuprofen or anything, but said if I need it on occasion, ALWAYS take it with food, so it doesn't sit on my empty stomach. So I always follow that with all meds now...except my prilosec.

Good luck, hope you feel better!

There are many surgeons who say it is fine to take IBP and all other meds too...others say none, some say in small doses. Seems all surgeons suggest differences. Just have to listen to your surgeon and your body.

Good luck!

I was told no prednisone (I was only 4 weeks out when my doctor suggested it.), and no ibuprofen. It really depends on your body and what your surgeon suggests.
