What Have You Gained?
I have gained many, many of the things posters above have listed. My very favorite thing that I've gained is my own athleticism. I am a bona fide bike road warrior, usually logging 100 miles per week. I ride with fast men, and I am in the middle of pack speed-wise. I have such a sense of strength and a love of cycling I would never have known about without this gift of weight loss. I'm grateful every single day for my new life.
Yesterday's 45-mile ride in the rain got me pretty muddy. I didn't care! Pretty much any day on a bike is a great day.

I'm pre-op revising from the lap band (2007). I'm approved, but I'm nervous...changed two surgery dates (Feb. 5 and Feb. 18). One, I'm nervous about surgery itself. Also for me, it's been hard to accept that the band didn't work for me. It's been super hard to move forward with the revision because I don't want to go through another surgery only for it not to work AGAIN. What an emotional roller-coaster. So much heartache and shame from regaining all the weight and the band not working.
I'm gaining the strength to try again with the sleeve.
I want
energy
confidence, again
self-pride
the ability to get in and out of the car without huffing and puffing
the ability to take care of myself (daily grooming and dressing) without struggling
the ability to sit in any chair without worrying about whether or not I will fit or if the chair will hold me.
I want to polish my toe nails and to tie my shoes with ease
and my stomach off my lap
and my thighs not to rub together
I want the weight battle behind me, finally. The excess weight and life-long weight battle has claimed too much of my life and my families life. I want to learn what healthy living (without the fat suit) feels like.
Sorry for going off topic, but thanks for asking this question.
You didn't take it off topic - you just showed why gaining is so important!
I think you will love the sleeve - there are many revisions on here who have done extremely well! I think the band is problematic for many people - it fails for many. I'm really amazed it is still as popular now with the slipping and eroding problems.
The sleeve is totally different and I feel blessed that I picked it.
You will do amazing with the sleeve and will gain your life as you lose your weight!
