Drowning my sorrows in a protein shake OT
I am so beyond pissed off and stressed right now. Midget Girl started her new medications yesterday. She's also in the works with a new psychiatrist to get her issues figured out.
I found out at 2:30, that she had been dealing with a migraine all day and the only reason they called me at 2:30 to come get her was because, "she worked really hard today, so we decided it was ok to send her home a little early." Are you ****ting me?? You've let my child suffer all day long and only "allowed" her to come home because she worked hard??
I also found out that the teacher's aide sent her to silent lunch (they have to sit alone and can't talk to anyone) because she didn't turn in a book report last Friday. She missed Friday because of a doc appointment, Monday and Tuesday they were out of school, and she missed yesterday because I needed to monitor her blood pressure. She is being punished for a book report that was in her folder the entire time. This same woman also punished my child for getting a sip of water (they have a fountain in the class), and (here's a kicker for you) taking her hair out of a ponytail as they were walking down the hallway.
Looks like I'm going up to the school tomorrow to force feed that report to the aide. I'm also in the works of homeschooling her. Poor kid has a very low self esteem as it is. Kids are hitting and kicking her, singling her out, and just all around bullying her AND THE TEACHERS ARE PART OF IT.
If she was doing something wrong, I could understand being punished, but come ON! *sigh* I will not eat junk, I will not eat junk... *sip sip sip*
The only person who can advocate for your child is you...request a meeting and remember in every state there is an agency, an independent agency even that can help you work things out with the school since you mentioned in an earlier post that your munchkin carries a diagnosis. The schools hate it, but they snap to it quickly when confronted by them. They have a social worker, psychologist, and a lawyer on staff. They assign a case manager and look into the case. Remember to document what is happening and how you have tried to work it out and their response to it. This includes what the school is or is not doing about the bullying. In KY it is called Protection and Advocacy. I am not sure what it is called in your state. You go girl!
I totally agree - march right up to that school and break it down for them. You are your baby's #1 advocate. I have done and will continue to do the same for my kiddos.
You resist the urge to snack. We are hear to support you through it.
Maybe try an intense workout instead to help you deal with the stress. That's what I do sometimes.

Oh, hon, I feel for you. When my son was in the 5th grade, he was a newly diagnosed type 1 diabetic, and the students AND teacher bullied him. (The teacher was angry because he had to have his snacks at a certain time, not of her choosing.) We had many meetings and go rounds with the principal, etc. However, the principal was one of those that always supported her teachers. The teacher was specifically told that she could NOT withhold his snacks because he had to eat regularly or his blood sugar could get too low. After finding out she was withholding snacks for punishment, I called her and reminded her of his diabetes and told her that withholding his snack could KILL him if he went into a diabetic coma and she just replied, "well, how can I make him listen to me." It was a miserable year. People do not realize what harm bad teachers can do. I am so sorry you and your child are having to go through this.
