Hello, Surgery Wednesday, Nervous Wreck
I had surgery 6 days ago. Your fear is completely normal! The closer I got to the hospital, the more anxiety set in. A lot of people wake up and have no problems and are up and at em in a couple days. I'm not going to lie. My experience wasn't that great. I've been pretty miserable up till now. BUT I woke up this morning FINALLY feeling a lot better!!!! So relieved that the worst is behind me and I can now just concentrate on moving forward. And losing 14.5 lbs in the last 6 days is a fantastic feeling as well!!!
You can do this!!! Good luck to you. Wishing you one of the easy recoveries we all read about! :)
The gas pains in my chest (around heart area) were the worst. Woke up in recovery and really thought I may be having a heart attack. While they did dissipate a bit, these pains lasted several days for me. I also had terrible nausea. I spent the first day and a half dry heaving...a lot! General pain for the first several days. I continued on my pain meds until around 5 days post op. I was also sent home on Lovenox to prevent blood clots and I'm a needle wuss so having to inject myself sucks! lol Not to mention they burn like hell and leave horrible bruising. Oh, and I've YET to reach my liquid intake that I should be at. I try VERY hard and push myself to drink constantly pretty much and I do get a bit more in each day but that's been really rough.
All that being said, I'm now exactly 1 week out and feeling MUCH better!!! What everyone else says is true...each day does get better. It just takes a bit longer for some of us than others.
