I do just fine with wine and vodka. :) I'm not dry by any means. But Boyfriend is a big beer drinker so occasionally, he likes to visit breweries, so I will indulge every once and a while. and well, there are also just some things that go better with beer. Wings and wine? Nah. Too highbrow.

Keith, I m suggesting you get a hold of a nut in Ireland and someone qualified to advise u...Every trip I've taken has been a success due to the plan ahead of time..it pays to know and have a back up!.. I would not go by a so call nut or just a person who is borderline bulimia ...

This is a very important post for me.  Several people made great comments.  I will be taking a few trips this year, the first to California in July.  I lived most of my life there and am well aware of the healthy food choices available there - as well as the decadence.

I really like the idea of figuring out, ahead of time, what your strategy will be.  I know I won't be the "stick to it perfectly girl" that I am now.  However, I am determined that the vacation won't become an excuse to fail.  Getting back on track the minute I get home - and having some of my best "on plan" foods available in the house when I return is a great strategy.

Thanks for asking this, Keith and also thanks to all *****sponded.

I spent two weeks in Ireland in Oct and the food was MUCH better than I expected (which is good news/bad news)! But there was lots of fish (not just breaded fish n chips) and lamb, and shepherds pie is yummy even if you avoid the potatoes. The pubs had great homemade soups, not all of which were potatoey. I think you'll find some decent healthy options and LOTS of good stuff to just try a bite or two of! Have a great time!!
