Is Anyone Prescribed Adderall ?
Hi there!
Some of you might remember I'm in grad school and I am like a ping pong ball. I can't focus on anything.
I spoke to my PCP and he said he was fine prescribing me Adderall because I had ADD documented in my history. I told him I had gastric sleeve surgery. He didn't seem to fully understand it. He kept saying dumping syndrome and gastric bypass.
Point being, I'm a little nervous to start it.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!
Adderall is a great tool. I took it for a while. Here is my advice. I used it as a tool to learn to recognize when I was losing focus and finding a way to regain that focus. It is great for making you focus but if you decide to focus on the wrong thing, you will waste time. So it does not help in making good decisions. I eventually stopped taking it and the residual affect from my time using it is that I can force myself to focus when I need to. You will find you procrastinate a lot less on it.
My daughter has been taking it for years and it is the difference between a failing student and an above average student.
He told me not to lose weight and I was like no way, that's not my intent at all. I just want to focus.
Maybe since I will have something else suppressing appetite I should set reminders to eat like when I was first post op?
I take it! It is a definite help in remembering to do things and staying on track. My dose post-surgery is much lower than pre-op as I notice my new stomach metabolizes it differently. I would start low (5-10mg) and work your way up. You'll know when it's the right dosage. It is a serious appetite suppressant and coupled with VSG I do have to set scheduled eating times or I can go all day without eating. Try it for a few days and see how it goes...
I'm in grad school also and just started taking it (10mg XR). I definitely have to remind myself to eat now as it did take away the little hunger I had left. It has already starting making huge improvements! I'm a 4.0 student but it came at a cost before. Now I'm able to actually have a somewhat normal family and social life because I'm actually focused during study time. I also am doing much better on timed exams. Oh, and hr classes no longer feel like 7 weeks! Good Luck!
