strength training question for women

I usually do strength training on mwf.  I didn't make it to the gym Monday, so I did the weight machines yesterday.

Is it ok if I go ahead and do them again today?  I know a day off between is ideal, but you know, life happens.  I won't make it to the gym Thursday, so it's today or skip a workout this week.

Thanks.

Just work different body parts, since there should be at least 48 hrs in between strength training sessions. Use different machines and/ or do different exercises.

I wouldn't. To properly heal and get the correct muscle breakdown/growth you really should skip a day.

Do you split your workouts or is each workout full body? If you split, you could just combine next time and do a full body.

If different body parts are worked, two days in a row is okay. Full body should wait. It depends on the type of exercise that is done.

Oh, I know - that's why I asked if she splits her routine.

No, I do whole body.  I can only make time for the machines 3x/week, so splitting the workout would mean I wouldn't get 3x/week for all my muscle groups.  I can only make it on Tuesdays if I don't have a preschool shift, which I do twice a month.  Oh, well.  I'll just do extra cardio today and pick the machines back up on Friday.  My muscles will get worked at ballet on Thursday night, too. :)

Oh yeah, you could do some ramped up cardio, like incline on the treadmill. Talk about working your glutes and legs, I love that!

There are certain muscles that you can work every single day, like your abs.  Also, I bet there are quite a few muscles you don't really focus on all the time, like your back and your calves.  You might want to do those today.  If nothing else, do a heavier cardio, maybe on a new machine, like the rower.  See you in group tonight.

I did about 40 min of cardio (treadmill at high incline and elliptical) plus abs/back.  I need to get set up on more machines when I have time. :)
