Hysterectomy after wls?
As most of you have seen from my siggy, I have PCOS. I have suffered from it since I was 9 years old. Yes, I started puberty THAT young. Due to recent health issues (severe migraines, family history of stroke, and blood pressure problems), I'm no longer allowed to take birth control to control the hormones. Hubby and I are both fixed, so we know there's no more babies coming out of this factory. I am in SO much pain from these damn cysts, that I'm considering going in today and begging for it all to be taken out. I've read that having a hysterectomy causes a lot of weight gain. I know I have a great tool to help combat that, but it is a little nerve wrecking to think of how far I've come, just to have it added back. Anyone go through that after their VSG?
While I can't have a hysterectomy, I did go through it with my 2nd wife. (Yes, I've had a few)
I think the weight gain they refer to is from the lack of hormones when they take your ovaries out. As long as you get those synthetically and controlled, you will feel better and shouldn't go through any depression that might lead you to eat.
It fixed her migraines which we can only surmise was from a hormone imbalance. Sometimes I miss her, most times not.

800 calories and less than 20 net carbs is the shizzle
Im dreading a visit to my gynecologic oncologist next month... since VSG, my cycle is now every 21 days.... my iron levels are bouncing like crazy....Im not in as much pain as I had been in the past but I know the talk of hysterectomy is going to come up again...
Like the OP, I started early, exactly one month before my 9th birthday.... at now I am mid-40's am getting pretty sick of my cycle.... but not sure if I want to go that drastic.... I take enough pills for post-VSG, am not looking forward to Hormone replacement or otherwise.....
I had a hysterectomy the year before the VSG. The weight gain never happened. Did it contribute to my slow weight loss? I would have to say no because I'd gained and lost weight for 20 years and it was always slow.
I don't know about after, but I do know that I don't deal with massive, monthly fluctuations in my weight. Definitely a positive, imo.
Good luck.
I ended up not seeing my regular doctor. This *insert colorful adjective* blamed my OVARIAN pain on a UTI. He said that he couldn't PROVE it was a UTI, but he's putting me on 2 weeks of antibiotics "just in case".
He ended up doing an exam that was so painful I jumped off the table and cried. This was AFTER he saw me hunched over on the floor, in pain. He then proceeded to chew me out saying I should have gone to the ER. Sorry, bud, I'm not going to sit in the waiting room for hours. You're stuck with my Casper white hairy legs now! I have to wait 2 hours to go get my meds, but we will see what happens. He put in a script for pain meds for me, then told me to come back in a week to see my regular doctor.
