My weight...

Great post. I really feel you have to completely "have your head in the game" before having this surgery. I am sure you know as a pastor that there are always challenges and hurdles to deal with in any journey...and this is definitely one. Keep your faith with you at all times as you progress and you will be amazed at how much better you feel even after a small percentage of your weight is lost. I look forward to more of your posts and wish you all the success and a speedy, easy recovery.

YES....but I have no doubt you will defeat this one with flying colors. I wish you only the best for your wonderful active "new" life!

I am 5 months post op. I have had some challenges but will never give up. I started this process officially a little over a year before surgery was scheduled ( thought about if for years before). Was hospitalized in March of 2012 and was shocked at my weight. Immediately began a healthy lifestyle and when I began required pre op classes I had lost 50lbs and by surgery day 10/22/12 I was down another 35 or so. As of today I have lost about 78 lbs since surgery.....so a total of 160+. I hope to lose about 45 more. I am 51 years old and wish I was younger as I think the process may have been a little easier. Other than my husband and kiddos not many people have commented on my loss which is discouraging (I have quite a few health issues and I think people may be afraid to say anything for fear I am sicker..or at least that's what I tell myself). Believe me if I can muddle through this and make progress someone such as yourself will have little problem. I will not lie to you....I have had many days when I have wondered what the heck I was thinking when I did this. However, I have had a few incredible NSV's (health related) and I know it will all be worth it. Feel free to friend me. I am far far from being any type of an expert here...but I have always been a good listener. All the best to you.
