I eat natural peanut butter because it has less carbs and recently have bought and am going to try PB2, which has fewer calories.  I am willing to cut that out; it just has really helped with afternoon hunger.  I will try a shake instead.  My nutritionist had recommended upping by carbs with fruit.  I am willing to try and tweak anything at this point.  Thanks for posting.  I really appreciate it.

Don't you worry about a thing!  All that matters is that we get there.  You didn't give your stats so I can't say if you are slow or not.  It depends a lot on how much you have to lose.  I'm a slow loser only 14 pounds in the first month and my BMI was close to 50 at 272 pounds.  Really most compared to me lose more faster.  So what!  I'm going to get there and you can to.  We can never give up no matter what.  It's not as if we can go back to the way we ate ever again and if we do we'll end up in the same place again.  No fear some people are just different.  Sometimes I think it has to do with body composition but maybe I'm wrong.  For example I am the type that had body fat everywhere legs, stomach, butt, and back.  I think those that have a great deal of fat stored in the belly lose faster...but maybe I'm wrong.  It's a theory I have.

Thanks, happiegirl.  I started my preop diet at 287 and my surgery weight was 275.  I am currently 260.  You are right -- we are going to get there and never given up.  I can't go back to the way things were.  I like your theory. ;)

You sound totally normal, and I wouldn't worry about being a slow loser at this point.  I thought I was too because I hit an over two week stall after a little over two weeks from surgery.  Make sure you're following your plan, getting enough protein, your vitamins and water.  Exercise when you feel better.  Try to be patient (I say that snickering bc I'm not even sure it's possible bc I know I'm not patient).  Don't compare yourself to anyone else.  Even if you are indeed a slow loser, you will get there with perseverance and determination.  You won't stop losing at six months if you keep working your plan.  None of us put this weight on overnight, and it's going to take awhile and a lot of work to get it off even with our awesome tool.

Thank you so much for your response.  It really helped.  I don't have patience either, but I do have perseverance and determination.  I am determined to make this work!

I just posted about fear of failure...slow loss...fear of success...etc. Check out that post because there was a lot of wisdom in the replies. They may perk you up a bit! And my new mantra, courtesy of Slimpickins.... WTF else are you going to do? You just have to stay the path and you will lose eventually. Everyone is indeed different. Some get to goal in six months. Some take a year or more. Others never make it. Some regain. You just have to pick your team and stay the course,

Thanks for posting.  I will definitely check out your post for inspiration.  I like the new mantra "WTF else are you going to do?" because that is exactly how I feel.  I have no choice, right?  This just has to work.  Failure is not an option!

Exactly. I am a total nerd...I actually say this to myself while looking in the mirror...daily.

I'm also a slow loser - or so I thought.  I had a 16 day stall starting the 2nd week out then I've slowly been losing around 2 lbs a week.  But when I averaged out my weight loss over a 7 week period - including my pre-op loss & first week loss, I'm averaging 3.7 lbs a week!

It is so hard to come on here and see people losing such large amounts each week - each body is different and we all will lose at our own speed.  My husband (3 weeks post-op) is losing 2 lbs to my every 1/2 pound but I'm too thrilled at this point for him!  (Next week I might feel differently!)

I do love Fitness Pal and have gotten a Fitbit to measure my steps.  I do think getting in more water is key - so hard to do!  I also think constipation and figuring out this new digestive system and keeping things moving is also part of the weight loss process.

Hang in there - we will get there!!

Thanks, butterfly.  Ouch.... a 16 day stall starting the second week.  It is hard to see others drop; you feel like your body is broken and may never function properly.  I have no choice, though, but to keep going and trying.  Success surely has to follow.  You keep up your good work.  Sounds like you and your husband are on your way!
