Indian cuisine
Tandoori chicken is pretty safe. Marinated in yogurt and grilled. I can't recall the names of most things -- so see if you can get the menu online! And take a look at some Indian recipes to familiarize yourself with the potential ingredients.
Everything else will be a custom combination of spices, sauces, etc. - so you'd be doing some guessing about true intake. But some my favorites:
1. Cauliflower -- it's usually spicy and wonderful!
2. Spinach paneer -- a spinach dish with cubes of a soft white cheese.
3. Eggplant -- usually in a dish with other vegetables
4. Chicken Tikka masala or chicken korma -- chicken chunks in sauces
5. Lamb dishes in a sauce as well.
We won't discuss the breads or rice. Just ignore them -- they are usually too good for just a bite!
A buffet is a good way to sample dishes, and lots of Indian restaurants here do a lunch buffet!
I LOVE Indian. Especially Indian buffet for lunch, so I can try a little bit of a lot of things. I haven't been post-op because my favorite thing is Naan, the bread they serve, and I'm not ready to resist the tempation.
I would recommend Tandori Chicken (usually dark meat and prepared in a brick oven)m, unless you find plain baked chicken too dry. If I had the calories to spare, I'd get Butter Chicken or Chicken Tika Masala. They are higher in calories and fat because of coconut milk. But, if you do better when the chicken has a sauce, these are delicious!
It doesn't have enough protein for sleevers, but I also love saag paneer, which is a spicy creamed spinach with chunks of soft cheese.
