Hello everyone... I haven't posted in a very long time. I am almost 3 years post op and I got down to 125. I am now at 136 and want to get back to 125. At one point the weight just seem to melt off and without much work at all. Now instead of being able to only eat half of a coney I can eat the entire thing... I miss only being able to eat half of what I can eat now. How do I re learn to work the tool I have? Other than right after surgery I never really had to do without the foods I wanted.. I just had to do a lot less of the foods I wanted. I'm scared.. I don't want to re gain and defiantly don't want to go past the 130's... What do you do to keep your weight in check before it's to late? TIA!!

First I want to give a shout out b/c I'm in Union, Ky.
Second, I'm still 12lbs away from my goal. I'm 7months out. So I'm not a "vet" and I'm sure they will chime in w/good advice....but here is my 2 cents...
Log your food on MFP
Increase protein
Decrease carbs to under 40 while dropping weight
Exercise
Increase water intake
Don't choose foods like a coney from skyline
Best if luck!!!

Hello, and good for you for getting on here when your up 11 pounds and not 50. You know that you have to get a handle on this before you gain more!

I recommend #1 tracking EVERYTHING you put in your mouth

#2 I would plan out tonight what you will eat tomorrow....I have just recently been doing this and it actually is fun. I get to play with my numbers on MFP and put in or take out exactly what I want, then I don't have to worry about the next day. This seems to put a handle on my mindless eating because I have a plan.

#3 eat protein and go back to WL numbers    600-800 cal   less than 40 carbs   80 protein

Good luck! you can do it!

Thanks!!! Now why didn't I think of that? LOL  I think a huge part of my problem is I started drinking surgery drinks again (soda, sweet tea) and eating things that are bad like chocolate and ice cream. I really should have some chicken breast cut up and cooked on hand for those times when I feel hungry... Think i'll head to the store now and get some for tomorrow...

What I do, did during loss, and still do- eat protein first- real foods, no processed anything.. I have a treat once in a while outside my home, but too many of those will have a negative effect.

I never had the experience of just eating the same junk I ate when I was MO post-op. I knew for me to get it off and keep it off this time, I needed to change what I wanted food-wise. I had lost 150+ once on my own, and never made the lasting changes I needed to- so I regained it eventually. I wanted long-term health, so that meant to me, I wanted real food. That meant walking away from junk far more often than not. I can eat a lot of junk and once in a blue moon I do, but it's the fastest way to gain 5lbs.. go on vacation and eat the typical greasy processed slidery foods=instagain.

If I eat clean, real whole foods- I #1 feel satisfied and full and happy, and #2 I feel great, and #3, I don't gain! If I eat coneys, burgers/fries/choc/sugar- watch out. I feel crappy, and soon after, I start getting the pudge.

If you want to make the change, try to start eating clean all the time. I still get full on 3oz or less of meat, but I can pack away junk like no tomorrow, that early restriction for junk slider foods goes away for sure, so I never relied on it from the start- it all comes down to diet (as in what you eat, not a diet.)

It would be so much easier if I were just cooking for myself and didn't have to have all the other stuff in the house for the rest of the family.. It's toooo easy to grab a cookie or whatever else that may just be lying around..
