Again?

I am about 9 1/2 months out.  I had the normal hair loss issue but it stopped after only about a month and a half.  My TOM occurred about every 3 weeks post op until around December when it seemed to go back to normal, occurring every 4 weeks or so.  But now things seem to be mixed up again.  My hair started falling out AGAIN and my cycle is wonky again.  What in the world is going on? I have been faithfully getting between 80 and 100g of protein in daily, take my vitamins, get plenty of water.  My weight loss has been much slower since December but I'm still slowly melting away.  I have recently increased the amount of exercise that I do as well as the intensity of it and have been feeling very fatigued lately.  I had a colonoscopy about a month ago that they knocked me out for.  I don't know if that would have any impact on the hair loss, etc.  but I'm curious as to the reason this is happening.  Any thoughts or insights?  Thanks in advance!

Maybe you need more protein with the increase in exercise? At least on the days with the extra workouts??? This sounds like a question for Keith!

I've been trying to make sure that I'm at the high end of my protein goal on workout days.  How much extra protein is enough I wonder?  Thanks for your input!

Who do you go to for checking your bloodwork.....your GP or endocrinologist, or a metabolic dr?  or the wls surgeon?  You may want to see if all your vitamins, hormones, etc are good.  sorry I can't offer more than that.

best of luck to you!

My surgeon gave me the paperwork to have my blood work done and I will be having it done at a lab.  I'm very curious how the results will be and what it will tell me.  Hopefully it will tell me something that can enlighten me in this area.  Thanks for your feedback!

I would suggest having your thyroid checked, when I forget my synthroid everything goes wonky including low energy, hair loss, dry skin, poor sleep. With my weight loss I have had to keep checking my dosage to ensure it is correct.

Thanks Lori.  Any ideas if the thyroid can become a problem post-surgery?  The last time I had it checked was prior to surgery and it was fine then.  I've never had any thyroid problems in the past.  Could it become an issue now?

I have sadly learned that iron effects hair even more so than protein. Maybe have your labs run. Mine is getting a lil better with supplements

I am planning on having my labs done soon.  Probably later this week.  I was taking Bariatric Fusion vitamins for several months post-surgery.  But about 3 months ago I switched to a different (newer and less expensive) brand of bariatric vitamins.  I don't know if they were any good and am curious if that is playing a role at all.  Thanks for your response!
