NSV - I Ran 5K Tonight

I have a 5k coming up in a few weeks and I wanted to make sure I could go the distance. So for my run tonight I mapped out 3.1 miles, put my head phones on, set my mind to it and I did it in 35 minutes. Not a great time but considering 7 weeks ago I couldn't run for 1 minute without stopping and tonight I did 35 mins. I think that qualifies as an NSV.

I think that's a fantastic time. Good for you. I hope I'll be able to run someday soon. I've got to be able to wear tennis shoes though first. LOL.
Look at what you achieved in just 7 weeks. That's incredible!!! Soon you'll be entering the New York Marathon.

Congrats,
Hilary

Great job Keith. As hard as some of the vets get on your case you must be doing something right.

Nice work Keith!!!

I still can't run anything near that. But frankly, I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a fork than run any long distances!!...lol

Im an intervals girl. Love doing 15 minutes running, then very fast walk, interspersed with 1 min sprints for another 30 mins. I just find the slog of slow steady running long distances incredibly boring so I stop sooner.

My chiropractor actually told me that interval training is actually better for fat loss anyway as you are constantly shocking your body into action so it works harder. I liked his theory, so Im sticking to it!...lol

Fantastic! Running has become "my thing" in this weight loss journey. I get a sense of accomplishment each time I complete a run. If you choose to keep adding distance, you will be shocked how easy 4,5 and 6 miles come. I'm attempting 7 today for the first time. I'm considering doing a relay with my siblings in a marathon and want to get to 9. If I can do that, I may add a half marathon in the Fall.
Great job Keith! Keep up the great work!
