Is my scale REALLY that far off?

At the doctor yesterday, I weighed in at 175. I almost cried because my scale at home had said 171. Mind you, this is with fresh batteries. Guess I need to invest in a better scale. I also need to replace my food scale. It started going all Matrix on me yesterday, even with fresh batteries. lol Story of my life! lol Any suggestions on scales that are good and affordable??

Food scales or regular scales?  I got the Biggest Loser scale (I thought it looked nice bc it's mostly glass) from Target, and it weighs me within 0.2lbs of my doctor's scale.  It was $30, I think.  I have a Salter food scale from Williams Sonoma (you can buy them off Amazon) - I love it.  The part that weighs stuff comes off so you can clean it really easily.  I'm constantly dropping stuff all over if

Both scales. lol Thanks for the suggestions! I need something that can take some wear and tear with me being being so graceful and the midgets running all over and dropping stuff. lol

I think the scale can take wear and tear.  My toddler is constantly jumping on it, picking it up then dropping it on the floor.  She has a love of scales.  I had to buy it a couple of weeks ago because my other one (5 years old) started weighing me 10lbs more than the day before, and I was about to have a panic attack :)

I have went to 3 doctors one after the other and have been as much as 5 lbs different , I only count my nuts scale

see if you can find an old 3 beam doctors scale there super accurate don't need batteries and last for ever

every time I buy anything with Chinese electronics it brakes after a month or 2   and the scales that measure bmi and bone mass are real un accurate my nut is trying to get one that is accurate for us to use but it cost thousands

I always get Tanita scales. The one I have now is super-expensive with all these bells and whistles. I like bells & whistles. :)

I don't think it matters though. I don't really care what the number is on the scale. I care how much volume I take up in space. I assume different scales are going to weight differently and I always go by what my scale says at home. The only time I care is if my scale would give me different weights all the time. As long as my scale is consistent, that's good enough for me.
