OT: To the teachers out there... long hours getting in the way of making the healthy choices...

Oh, wow. Just reading these posts makes me exhausted! - And I remember doing all of that stuff, too. Some really good points were made. 1. Set limits and boundaries- we are teachers- not slaves to every committee, administrator's whim or idea of whatever, or extracurricular activity designed to occupy/entertain student's time. 2. Organization is key. Chaos is such a time and energy sucker; it clutters our brains and makes us ineffective and frustrated. 3. Since by nature, we tend to be givers and caretakers, why not extend a little of that grace to ourselves and do what we need to take care and love self a bit. My time is found in the morning- up at 4:45 am and 60 min of cardio before I begin the day for real. My husband can't hardly believe it. (I was always the last one out of bed) I've kept this up for almost 21 months now. I guess I just finally bought into the thought that I was/am worth the effort. Best of luck. Oh, and PS- I'm a much better teacher every day and able to give more because I'm taking better care of myself.

I love the idea of exercising in the morning, but it seems so brutal to start the day that way for some reason.  I like to wake up early, but slow and easy.  I do get to work about an hour and a half before first bell, so I do have a chunk of time I could devote to it, but just the thought of the elliptical at 5 a.m. kills me.  And I love to exercise!

I think I should at least try though.  Tomorrow, I am going to do it and see how it works out.  Maybe it won't be as bad as I think it will be.
