Hi Angie,

I am 6 years out from the VSG.  It is still the best decision that I have made.  I didn't have acid reflux before surgery.  After surgery, I got it severely.  I have since developed Barretts Esophagus.  Last Friday I had radiofrequency ablation.  We are hopeful that that will get rid of the precancerous cells.  I still have issues and hoping to get the band around my esophagus to stop the acid reflux but have to get the barretts totally taken care of first.  If the band doesn't work then they will have to do bypass.  So this is where it might help you with your decision.  If in the end you might have to end up with a bypass because of severe reflux.  Maybe you should just go ahead and do that instead of the VSG.  There is plenty that I am leaving out, but hope this helps.  If you have any question, you can email me at [email protected]  Good Luck with your decision.

Cindy
