What is your bad habit(s) that you can't seem to kick *but keep trying to*??
Yeah we have the e-cigs and it's not helping us much. I'm sending it to my mom so she can quit. We're just going with the acupuncture since we can't take the meds for it or anything. I did it cold turkey last time. I've also noticed that narcotics make me smoke more, so I try to stay away from them.
Acupuncture may help. I wonder about hypnosis? I quit cold turkey, after setting a date and planning for it . I learned that I could not pick up a cigarette, nor could I allow people to smoke in my home or car. I had to change everything in my routine and went through some depression and grieving . There is the physical addiction, but I found that there was a HUGE psychological component to the smoking habit. Things have to change on so many different levels.
The narcotics are hitting your same "please center" in your brain as the nicotine. That's not to say that the narcotics are the same as smoking, but our brain perceives it as being similar because it's the same neurotransmitter. So you're exactly right! That's why if you're on any narcotics you get cravings.
Just thought you'd like to know the physiology of it. :)
Glad to know it's not completely mental that the hydrocodone sends me looking for a cancer stick! I'm just glad we have an alternative. Cigarettes stink. When I'm not on hydro, it's not a big deal. I dunno... it's totally screwed up for sure. I can't wait until I can get off of the narcotics. It's SO annoying.

I wouldn't worry about the drinking before hand. If you have an empty stomach, your pyloric valve is open and liquids flow right through. I saw it happen when I had my leak test the day after surgery - I drank that awful tasting stuff and could see in the X-rays it going right through my stomach and emptying out. And that was when I was very swollen.
I have the same issue as you go with the cream in my coffee. Trying to cut back and switch to milk. It just tastes so good and it's my treat!
My bad habit I thought I kicked but has started to come back is looking to nibble on something at night when I'm not hungry. I've been drinking tea instead most of the time but every so often I let my guard down. Habits are hard to break!
See my reply a few up to Momofmarch... just an idea.

Hmmmm... I guess none of that just sounds all that horrible to me (except #3 but that might be because I simply CAN'T drink around meals or I feel awful).
I'm so torn on sweetners. I get the "bad" side of them, but at the same time... sugar triggers me. Like I said, torn on that issue. Do what feels right to you though. You've obviously done amazing and I tend to think that if you can fit it into your plan, it doesn't trigger you or make you gain weight... shrug.
But, you know I kind of march to my own drummer in that department :)

My drummer has it's own rthym too :) I think that is the crux of the problem for me actually. Overall, I made it to goal with the habits, thus far doing great maintaining even with the habits, etc. I just wish I had a magic wand to wave them away though!
About the vapor cigerette thing you posted about. I can't say enough good things about it!! My mentally ill sister (schizophrenic, bad heart condition, and breast cancer) just wasn't in a place in her life to quit smoking- but she could barely breath. My other sister decided for her birthday to get those for her, and she took to it right away. Like you said, not good for you- but so much better than the $1 pack of cigar thingys she was smoking that had to be cancer wrapped up in paper. Worth a try. I had no idea you could do it without nicotine... I used to smoke 2 decades ago, and still miss it. Maybe I will check into the vapor thingy so long as it is not also dosing a bunch of chemicals with that vapor.
