One month of zero scale movement. Zilch. Zippo. Nada. Nothing. Not an ounce. I know all the theory and have read the posts on stalls and on the body catching up and so on and so forth...I know I am doing things right. I get the protein in. I stay under 800 cals and I stay close to 40 gr carbs and I am on target with the water. I am not hungry and I don't crave anything in particular. I take my vitamins. I log every bite and every day...I could ramp up exercise...but doing the best I can right now with my hernia. I don't want it to get any bigger before I am ready to take care of it at the same time as my LBL...which is why I need and want to get to goal and the freaking scale is on a freaking strike. I am feeling a bit scared and worried that my body is slipping into maintenance and that this is the natural resting point. I am 16 lbs from my doctor's goal, 22 lbs from my wedding day weight 20 years ago and three children ago and 27 lbs from my first level goal weight and 37 lbs from my ideal dream weight goal. I am 7 months out from surgery. This month long stall is really taking the wind out of my sails and making me doubt myself and my ability to reach any of these goals which of course has me reaching for the fridge instead...lucky for me there is nothing bad in my fridge. Still I am feeling a bit defeated by this. I am fighting it by thinking about all the great things that have come my way since surgery and the 61 lbs gone but I can't help feeling like I don't know what to do. Doing what I have always done doesn't seem to be working anymore.

I will take it all...the tough love, the advice, the coddling, whatever ideas you have and any which way you want to express them! Bring it on! I really need all the ideas I can get to get things moving again. Thanks in advance!

120 is very low, are you small framed and petite in height?  what i'm saying is, could your goal weight be a little on the low side for your body type and age?

I am 5 ft 0... Pretty short. Small frame. 49 years old...I was at 110-120 until about 19 years ago. My bones probably grew heavy during my obesity phase to be able to carry all the lard!

I know you said you always weighed 120 until 19 years ago....that is when you were a kid of 30! Realistically a 50 year old women will carry close to 30% fat.  It's part of natures aging design.  We need the extra 10+ pds over our "peak" weight to cushion against bone fractures..etc as we age.  Also, people over 65 lose subcutaneous fat naturally - which is why old people are always cold. ( sorry I'm a nursing home administrator) Also, if you got back to your peak weight - we could see every line, wrinkle and burrow on your face.  The 10lbs will soften the effects of aging.  Maybe shoot for 130 or 140.  Seriously my niece is 4'11 and weighs 143 - wears a size 10 from Old Navy - you will still look great - more importantly feel good!  Be fair to yourself and be realistic -don't set yourself up for frustration.  If you get to 140 and your body wants to lose more - it will....just don't judge yourself by the scale.  I love all the people freaking out over a 1 month stall.....your body is adjusting, I'd up your water, up your protein and wait it out.  Don't cut calories more than you have - in some have success with adding protein and calories - do what feels right.

I would be happy with 130 but that is still 17 lbs away!

You might just need to wait it out, or you could try to increase protein to closer to 100 grams, reduce carbs to under 20 and keep calories really low.  The other possibility is to add in a bit more fat and take the carbs down to almost nothing.  Try it for one or two days and see if that helps.  I hear your frustration, I wish I had better advice.

Will try as of tomorrow... What do you think of a Keith fast day once a week?

I have never been big on fasting. To me it feels punitive. But that's just me. I know others swear by it.

Honestly, I am not a big fan of it.  But if nothing else works.... I never say never.  I would try my suggestions first as they come more or less from my doctor and I really trust him.  If you do what I am telling your for the next two weeks and it still is not working, I would expand my search for the right answer, but for now, I know that my advice is more or less what he would tell you to do.

I've read some stuff on fasting that makes me leery of it. I think it might actually hurt weight loss in the long run.
