Almost 3 years out - I need you all now more than ever!
I remember you! I am 3 yrs postop also. I have not had any problem maintaining and haven't gained any weight back..thankfully. That is why I wanted to ask you how much you can eat? I am always curious about how much others at 3 yrs out can eat, compared to me. I am wondering if how small my surgeon made my stomach is what is helping me to stay the same weight...cause i don't exercise..and i eat whatever i want..but i can hardly eat anything at one sitting. I still can only eat about 2.5oz of protein and i am satisfied.
Hi! I remember you too and wow look at you - you've really done awesome! To answer your question - I recall my surgeon telling me he used a 32 bougie - I had great restriction in the beginning but I definitely can eat a lot more now. I can eat about 3-4 ounces of dense protein without much trouble. I do still have restriction though so that is good - I just need to reign in the grazing. I also started drinking coffee with cream all day long and had to get real with myself over that. So I am cutting that down to one cup in the morning then water the rest of the day. I am tracking my calories and staying under 900 per day. I don't think I'd lose if I went over that. It sucks for sure but the thought of going back to where I was is motivation enough! Do you still track your calories?
Nope..I have never tracked my calories. I can hardly eat much at all, so i just don't worry about it. I have been drinking about a half a two liter of regular pepsi daily for almost 2 yrs now..i know if i stopped that i would start losing even more..but i eat what i want..and with the pepsi..i stay at my current weight (for the past few yrs)..and i'm happy where i'm at.. Sounds like you know what to do for you...and how to get to losing again..i wish you the best of luck! I know you can do it!!
Hi Snowbaby! I remember you... and anninva, and Elena, and Dawnie lol... and I'm back for the same reason. My 3 year mark was at the end of January, and in the previous year and a half plus some, I'd gained back FORTY-FIVE of the 86-ish lbs. I'd lost and maintained. I got complacent and let old habits creep back in...I wont go into detail but I'm back on track and have 9 of it gone over the last couple of weeks. It's disgusting, embarrassing, shameful...you know the feelings. BUT, we've done it before, we still have good restriction, and we WILL do it again!
I feel like this time I'm going into with with important lessons learned, and WHEN we get back to where we're supposed to be, we'll be more likely to keep it off, being aware of the mistakes of the first time around. My only problem is that 3 years later it's coming off muuuuuch more slowly. But it is coming off. We can do this!! :)
Curious about your deficiencies. I have several as well. Im much better at supplementing, but its still a struggle for me.
