I think your expectations are causing your disapointment.  How long did it take you to gain the weight? It wasn't overnight. You can not go from morbidly obese to normal weight overnight either. I only stepped on a scale at the dr office- I kept track of my food and exercise, (eating when I was hungry, mostly protein, stopping when I no longer felt hungry-not full). I went from over 300 lbs to about 145 in a little over a year and have been maintaining for over 6 mos.  I exercise vigorously an hour a day and try to be as physically active as possible during the day (no longer looking for the closest parking spot).

My sleeve was done with a 40 bougie. I think attitude is much more important than bougie size. I do not expect my sleeve to force me to behave. The sleeve is a great tool but it is NOT a miracle cure for obesity. Everyday I exercise and journal. It is work, but it does work for me, so it is well worth it. (I went from a wearing a tight size 22 jeans to a loose size 8, but the real difference is how great I feel, not the number on the scale or on the tag on my clothes).

Also, remember your body needs time to release the fat. You will hit plateaus- where you may go weeks, not losing any weight-no matter how "perfect" you are. It's just the way it is.But your shape will change. Measure your body with a measuring tape and you will lose inches even if the scale doesn't move.,

Finally, think about nsv- non sleeve victories.  Don't you feel better? Aren't your clothes looser? Aren't you doing more physically active things now? Can you wear a belt or clothes now that you couldn't wear before? Or are you able to move you seat closer to the steering wheel when you drive? Think about the other improvements in your life.

Hang in there- this is the rest of your life. Create habits that you can maintain. The goal is not just to lose weight- it is to maintain an appropriate weight for you. (which, by the way, may or may not be "normal" on a bmi chart).  HAVE FAITH and HANG IN THERE! :)

Hi

I just wanted to let you know we're all out here for you.  It can be scary out there on your own, so don't hesitate to reach out to this group.

Excellent advice so far!  I definitely track everything on MFP....my water, protein, carbs, calories, vitamins.  I also measure or weigh everything.  I know in the past, I would be so astounded that I wasn't losing weight, because I was eating healthy...but I realize now that my portions were way over the top.  The sleeve may give us restriction, but I know I have to be really aware of if I am actually feeling hunger, or if I just want to eat something.  I have been trying to stick to an eating schedule (as much as possible) so that I never let myself go too long without eating.  Instead of relying on my stomach to tell me if I'm hungry or full, I am eating my scheduled and measured meals and don't have to worry as much.

Walking is excellent, but I also try and either go to the gym and do Zumba classes or even do Comcast OnDemand fitness videos...something to mix it up.  I can't wait until I am cleared to lift weights again.  That really helps to tone you up and rev up your metabolism too.

Don't worry...you aren't going to be "the one this didn't work for".  We all feel like that at some point.  You can definitely do this!  You have the new stomach as a tool, but make sure to use all of the other tools available to you...especially this site!

Just wanted to give you HUGS. We are here for you!  The advice on this post is so right on.  I agree also with the weight training, build muscle it will rev your metabolism.  What has helped me is to be bread/grain free.  So I don't eat any wheat, bread, rice...it has really helped.  I know things like Melba toast are on some people's plans, but I would avoid all of this if I were you...it will keep your carbs down, too.

Stay strong!
