Aww, thanks. Yes, I have found this board to be very supportive.

Hi Kelly-Anne

That's super that you'll be sharing this with Barry.........you'll be such a great role model for him.   I so get the weighing less than the spouse.......I've always weighed more than mine -- almost 43 years now.  BUT, with his sudden gain of about 30-35 pounds over the last year or so and my loss, it's getting closer and I hope to weigh less then he does by the end of the year!  I was hoping for this summer but, as you know, I lose very slowly (and it's getting slower by the day, it seems), so my goal has been moved to Christmas Day!

Sending happy vibes, easy procedure, and speedy recovery to your Barry..........and lots of patience and strength to you as you help him get through those first several weeks.

Good luck.............

Ree

Thanks for the good wishes, Ree.

I suppose I qualify as a slow loser, too, but - I've lost 80# in the past year! I'm only 9# from the weight my family doctor figures is right for me. He's wrong, but I like him anyway.

I don't look too much at the final number anymore, although I know it's certainly lower than my doctor says and perhaps as low as my own number. I follow a blogger (Yoni Freedhoff) that says it well: my best weight is the one I can maintain while enjoying my diet and being as active as I enjoy. I don't enjoy a diet that is all meat, all the time, and I seriously doubt that I'd enjoy 2-3 hours a day of working out, so whatever body that would give me is never going to happen.

I DO enjoy a diet that is protein focused, but also contains fruit, veg and whole grains - and the occasional homemade cookie or sliver of birthday cake. (I don't drink, so I figure I'll be able to spend the calories that many spend on that on the cookie) I DO enjoy walking my dog for an hour a day, walking to the store for groceries, riding my bike, shoveling the walks and swimming. I DO enjoy walking for hours looking at stuff when traveling, and I look forward to going on walking tours with my hubby after he retires.

Have fun with it!  Please say hi to everyone down there for me... I really want to find a reason to go back and show off a little :)

I will! Surely you need blood work or, umm...hmm...

We're in San Diego now - just got back from walking to GNC and Sprouts - why hop the bus when it's only a 1/2 hour walk away? (I love the bus system here) We got a box of cookie dough Quest bars (can't get that flavour back home), yogurt, milk for our coffee, beans with cheese for me (lunch and supper tomorrow) and some treats for Barry. He's "saying goodbye" to some old friends.

We're going to enjoy being tourists tomorrow, then Ernesto picks us up Monday morning and we're off to the start of our new life together. Once he's past his first few months I know he'll love his sleeve (already named Barney) as much as I love mine.

We may try hanging out in Tucson for a week or two this winter - if so I'll pop across for a check in.

Good luck!
